Deciding

I picked this up last week, now  deciding which events to go to this year.

Two years ago I went to a talk about the British Library Crime Classics, didn't get there last year but there's a couple of things that look interesting.

Maybe Dame Jenni Murray talking about her book " A History of Britain in 21 Women" ? Or Timothy Bentinck ( David Archer of The Archers) in conversation with his sister about his book "Being David Archer and Other Unusual Ways of Making a Living". Perhaps Stephen McGann - The actor who plays the doctor in Call The Midwife, although he is talking about his book called "Flesh and Blood - The McGann family as told through seven sicknesses" which sounds a bit gruesome.
Then there is natural history writer Patrick Barkham. I have his book " Islander - A Journey Around Our Archipelago" on loan from the library van.

Must decide soon or the tickets will all be gone.

Another sunny day here in Suffolk yesterday and I enjoyed sitting outside in between tennis......... or tennis in between reading outside.........whichever!

Thank you for comments, would love to find out which house that is For Sale Traveler looked at in our area!

Back Soon

  2. Something to look forward to! I love the tennis and played a lot when I was growing up, don't really watch it often though. Looking forward to Wimbledon this year and hoping to see some matches on tv. Meg Xx

  3. Hi I am Diane and I have been lurking for a little while. You live in my favourite county I used to keep my caravan near Framlingham. From where I usually towed it to Tangham where I have holidayed for many years. Since I was widowed I have sold the caravan but I must say I do miss my holidays in Suffolk.

    1. Suffolk is still beautiful. I know Fram very well - it's usually full of traffic jams now!

    3. Sue, many years ago we had two holidays in Framlingham at a B&B called Boundary Farm, but I don't think it's a B&B any longer. The first time we went on our own, and the second time we took my elderly mother. We had a great time, we love Suffolk (even though we live in glorious south Devon!)

  4. What a lovely day. Hoping today is just as lovely, even if the weather isn't.

  5. Every year I dither and swither and am too late to get tickets for “Aye Write” our Glasgow Book Festival. Sometimes we have visiting authors at the local library but they are usually less well known ones. Very clammy and overcast this morning so I’m already perspiring. Happy tennis.

  6. I had the Hay Literary Festival programme but this year there was NOTHING to interest me, and truth be told, it was all so political and left wing (and sorry, I am NOT left wing) that the programme just went into the woodburner.

I hope that you decide quickly and get back and tell us what you chose - some super talks there by the sound of things. Enjoy the tennis and at least you won't get wet or burnt brick-red watching it! Plus you can pay a lot less for strawberries, cream and Prosecco if you wish it . . .

  7. My parents in Ipswich said they were enjoying the sun in the garden today, whereas we’re quite overcast here in East Yorkshire. Sounds like there’s lots of interesting things to choose from xx

  8. Sounds a bit like our Swaledale Festival which starts this week end - hard to choose exactly what to go to and when you finally
make up your mind the tickets are all gone - or that is what it is usually like for me.

  9. They all sound interesting. Fingers crossed that you get a ticket to the one you decide on. Overcast and chilly, here in Lincolnshire, again.

  11. That looks like an interesting festival. I'll actually just be there (getting in on June 30th) but I'm pretty sure I'll be suffering from jet lag. The older I get the harder it seems to be to bounce back!

  12. I'm glad for you that your weather has been fair and you can enjoy your garden. I hope you pick the right lecture to attend! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. I read about the David Archer bloke recently who recorded the words "Mind the Gap" for the underground announcements which were used for years apparently. He used to sit on the tube and smile at himself and wish he had charged 1p per announcement!

  14. I am sure you will make a well thought out decision of the one or two or three that interest you the most.

    God bless.

  15. I'm on the mailing list for the British Library events. You'd love them (apart from the fact that they are in London!) Big geek that I am, went to a grammar conference last year. LOVED it!

Glad you are still blogging, and gardening. Keep going, Col will be proud of you. X
