A Smaller Car-Boot Sale

A very misty morning here last Sunday which must have put a lot of people off selling. I arrived good and early as the cat had woken me at first light bringing another mouse into the bedroom, chasing it around for a while - which involves much crashing and banging -  and then losing it under the wardrobe. It's possible there are three mice in the house somewhere!

Anyway I arrived early and had quite a speedy walk round and came home with just a few little bits

A couple of kits for making Easter crowns - for Grandchildren sometime . I spotted a tin opener, which I'd been looking for, not new but I examined it closely and it looks OK and 2 little pictures that caught my eye. They are just prints by a John Morland and then hand coloured, nothing special and I wouldn't usually even look at pictures because I really have enough already but these just needed to come home with me.
 Total spend £2.50

I was home for my breakfast well before 9am with plenty of time to get the bread-maker going, cook up some beetroot and do some gardening - although not a lot as despite the cloud cover it was hot, humid and sweaty.

Back Tomorrow

  1. We do miss boot sales. We did go to one a couple of weeks ago...on reflection not a wise choice as it was in a tourist area and was heaving. Far too busy for our liking and we left after only a short while. Couldn't even get near the tables, there was no way I was going to elbow my way through the throngs! You do find some good things, Sue.

    1. They've spread out the lines of cars so much at this boot sale that there is lots of room to avoid people which is good and I get more exercise walking round!

    1. I was pleased with the tin opener - to keep ready for when mine breaks - which it might well do soon

  3. Well for £2.50 I don't think you can worry that you didn't really need those two pictures, they're pretty little things and will bring you some joy, I am sure, as will the fun of making up crowns with the grandchildren.

  4. Great prints. I love carboot sales, buying not selling.

I picked another 10lbs of damsons yesterday and my neighbors sister was there and I gave her some and she was thrilled she makes jam for the charity she works for somI am going to let her have has many has she wants, I am so pleased they are not going to waste.

  7. Hi Sue, great buys, we had a car boot sale here in the village a couple of weeks back to raise money for the Parish hall. Go another coming up in September, I’ll be there!

  8. There is something very appealing about those pictures isn't there, they are just 'right'. And sometimes it's just nice to get out in the fresh air and amongst people at the start of the day isn't it even if you don't buy much, especially on a Sunday when the day can stretch out ahead of you after an early start.

Cats are annoying with their incessant hunting aren't they ... especially when they bring the catch in to play with in the comfort of home. Ginger's not been too bad this year, we've had bodies, bits of bodies and the odd unidentifiable bit of furry something, but no live specimens. I think he knows Mavis will join in the game if he brings them in.

    1. I looked up the artist and found he won an RHS gold medal for his studies in flora back in 1979. His daughter still runs a gallery in Glastonbury.
I seem to only get live mice - and she never eats them

  9. It's nice to think those pictures will be loved again.

  10. Three mice...not for long unless they're all the same sex! It could be a fun Autumn in your house for the cat! x

  11. I think I would have to get an awful lot braver before I could go to a car boot sale again round here. They are always really busy. Too many people!

Some good buys there and cheap too! The little pictures are lovely.

  12. It was 32C today and 62% humidity this afternoon. Plus the haze is laced with smoke from the wild fires. There was a news conference this afternoon and the governor said there were over 300+ fires in CA stretching from the Oregon border to the Mexican border. Hopefully this heat wave will break and the dry lightning storms will go away. The weather just wears me out and the dog has taken to taking a nap on the stone tiles.
