On The 8th Day After Christmas

Thank you to everyone for all the Happy New Year wishes over the last couple of days.

Are you still singing the 12 days of Christmas?

On the 8th Day After Christmas my Christmas treat will be.............

 4 Steaming Puds
Some Salted Cashews
The Radio Times
Choca Mocha Coffee
A New Craft to try
Chocolate Liquers
A Paperback book
And a Big Tub of Chocolates just for me.

I shall save the puds in case we get really cold snowy weather in January or February as I'm still feeling over full after Christmas!............ And I haven't even started the "big tub of chocolates just for me".

A couple of months ago I had a letter from the Office of National Statistics telling me that I'd been randomly selected for completing an online questionnaire to help the government deal with Covid and  after completing it I'd  get a £15 shopping voucher.  It was all quite genuine. When I got the on-line questionnaire which only took a few minutes with multiple choice questions  like "did I understand the government briefings" etc to fill in and got to the end it the option came up of a print out shopping voucher or get one through the post I opted for posting as my printer can be temperamental  and was then informed that there would be a delay........due to...........Covid! Ha!
Anyway a couple of weeks later I had another letter thanking me for doing the survey and asking me to do another, this time it included a cloth shopping bag as a thank you gift and said I'd be getting an email with survey to complete. No email survey appeared. Then a few days later I had a phone call and a lady said could I quickly do another online survey which needed completing before the next day. I said I'd still not received my vouchers from the last survey, she said I would get them eventually when people weren't working from home. So I found the email and did the quick survey and then received another email the only choice being to print out the vouchers. There were lots of shops to choose from. I did Asda - for food. The printer worked..........
And Voila .......
Hope Asda will accept them. I'll find out later today

  1. I hope Asda accepts them, no reason why they shouldn't though. The mini puds look good. Making me hungry! But I'm trying to be good now, I've put back on some of the weight it's taken me ages to lose. Why is it so much easier to put weight on than lose it? xx

  2. What a treat to get the vouchers. We still have half a Christmas Cake to eat up. Then perhaps I will diet!

  3. Asda are usually pretty good with unique coupons, so good luck. £15 worth of 'free' food is not to be sniffed at. Those puddings look nice.

The gardener that did our ground clear up a couple of months back was being paid £25 a month (and his wife too) to have regular Covid tests, he had been having them since March and had managed to pay for quite a few household items with their money. He said he now had a 'Covid washing machine' and a 'Covid vacuum cleaner' and was looking forward to buying some more 'Covid appliances'. Of course it also helped his business no end as he had the test results to prove he was healthy. :-)

    1. I'm not sure I'd volunteer to have a thing shoved down my throat every week even for £25 a week!

  4. Steam puds look good.

I'm all for getting good information and we've locked down completely here, ever since March - but those government briefings drive me round the bend. I don't watch them - I read the guidance instead and then the science, which usually tells me to be even more careful than the government guidance!

    1. There were all sorts of questions - I can't remember now what they were - I suppose they are useful to someone who likes statistics

  5. I thought you had a new pudding cook book there. Good luck with the vouchers.

  6. Another example of how the Government wastes the taxpayers money.
Postage, phone calls, manpower, vouchers - it all adds up, not just for your participation but for however many others are included too. All for an unnecessary survey.

  7. The puddings look nice.
It's I beautiful sunny here so I hope to get moving and have a walk, my back has been aching the last few days and I think a walk will help.
    Enjoy the week everyone.

  8. Well I hope you get all the vouchers. Is the government getting more touchy-feeling I wonder? I always fill in government petitions for whatever, compassion towards farm animals for a start. but then a survey often comes through as to our thoughts on the matter, no payment though.

    1. The vouchers were handy - for just a few minutes of form ticking

  9. You should be okay with the vouchers. My husband has been having a Covid test every month or so (like Sue's friend above) and has had £25 in vouchers every time and he's always opted for Tesco. In a round-a-bout way it's a way of me knowing that I'm negative too. Oh, happy days.

  11. Those puddings look good! Yum! Well done on getting the vouchers for Asda. If it was me, I'd buy something I wouldn't normally buy - maybe more puddings? 🀣

  12. Free vouchers not to be sniffed at. Asda (where we would never shop normally as it is in Llanelli and too far away AND not as cheap as Lidl or Aldi) have actually been brilliant through this Pandemic and offered us a weekly delivery which we have taken advantage of.

Those puddings look very toothsome! We have just done a stock count of the freezers so only cold meat and the general stuff we need on this week's order.

  13. I'm enjoying your 12 days of Christmas! Vouchers are great and can be a real help with your grocery shopping. I am a big lover of sweets but even I have had my fill of them by now! Those puds do look good though. ; )

  14. Love your song for the 12 days of Christmas.

I also hope that the vouchers will be accepted.

    God bless.

  15. Your twelve days of Christmas have been fun to watch.
Here, testing involves a stick being put up the back of your nose and twisted around. Makes the eyes water, and not heard of anyone who liked it.
I'd much rather be home eating chocolate :)

  16. Happy New Year Sue - that pudding book is great - I just love a steamed pudding (anytime of the year). The vouchers should be accepted we have been part of the wider ONS survey since the outbreak began having swab tests weekly and now monthly. The vouchers can be quite delayed but they do appear. We have not had one declined yet. Having regular swab tests has been great as it has meant I can see my 95 year old mum without the fear of passing anything on to her.
PS I am just catching up with everyone and had to smile at your twelve days of Christmas it is so you. xx
