I'm In!

I wasn't expecting to be organised enough to write a post for publishing today but thanks to Son who in no time at all got the new hub going (have to say well done to BT in this case who got the hub here 5 days before it was expected) and he managed to sort out some fiddly fixing on the back of the TV to get that attached to the dish.

Just two guys this time and this is Wayne fixing the legs back on my big dining table - told him I'd give him a mention!  I nearly sold this table...wasn't sure there wasn't going to be room for it but the living/dining room is much bigger than I thought.
(The big white thing is my ancient settee without it's cushions and before getting its huge throw chucked over it.)

So TV, Internet, My own Bed and help from family - what more could a woman want! Apart from a magic wand for unpacking umpteen boxes 😉

Youngest Granddaughter and Grandson approve of my new home and while son was sorting the technology they were in the small bedroom and with the help of DiL unpacked lots of toys..... they certainly have their priorities right 😀

I've had 2 welcome cards from neighbours already and everyone who walked by with their dogs when the removal van was there (seems to be one heck of a lot of dogs in this village) said hello and welcome.
I'm going to be a big disappointment to them! "popping in for a coffee" with people I don't know at all seems a bit odd to me although I will be joining the WI and probably going to the URC church sometimes and joining the friends of the doctors surgery to get to know people.

Back Monday......... should have unpacked a few more boxes by then.

Sue

  1. Glad the removal van DID have your stuff in it! You can unpack the boxes at your leisure, now you've got the important stuff sorted. I'm sure some of those "people you don't know" will soon be friends. xx

  2. Friends of the doctors surgery is a new one. Sounds a bit odd. When I saw your comment on my blog this morning I thought ah, the hub is up and running! Glad you're in and all's well.

  3. Well done, Wayne, that's what I call good customer service. Well done family too, helping to get things organised.
It sounds a friendly neighbourhood and I'm sure you will soon make friends and feel part of the community - as much as you want to anyway.
    Nearly over now.

  5. Great news, it does take time to get your new house how you like it, it's not a race, so enjoy finding your space. Life is much nicer when your neighbours all say hello.

  6. Oh well done. You will be done and dusted in next to no time I'm sure. It sounds like it went like clockwork but you must be rubbing your eyes this morning and thinking WHERE did I wake up today?!!

The neighbours sound nice and friendly (all the ones round here are too). I wish you much happiness in your new home. It sounds very conveniently placed.

  14. So pleased you are getting settled and nice you are going to join the WI, after 30plus years in my old WI that was the first thing I did when I moved and so pleased especially after I had the stroke you will so get to know the neighbors. I think BT was very quick.
It's raining heavy here such a shame there is another yard sale going on for charity.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  15. Wishing you much happiness and more time to spend on the things you enjoy doing, Sue. Good to know that the grandchildren approve of the place.

  16. Glad that the move went smoothly. The grandchildren have their priorities right, wherever Nana is, that's home and there are toys!
I am not a neighbours in my house type of person at all, a cheery chat and quick hello is my limit.

  18. If it is anything like here Sue they will make you fit in whether you like ir or not. Everyone says hello round about me - after four years I may not know their names but they make me feel wanted. All the very best to you - knowing you you will be organised in no time.

  19. You have done remarkably well, Sue, and the living room does look quite big. Well done the GC for getting their toys ready to go too! I hope you'll be very happy in your new home. I'm hoping to join the WI in our area too, once they are up and running again. They have already said that they will be delighted to have me join :) Great that you have internet already, we had to wait weeks...

  32. I'm so happy for you! How wonderful that you already have your internet and TV. That together with all of your furniture and belongings should help you to feel at home now. I love that the grandchildren took care of unpacking the toys as that is important you know! You don't have to rush to unpack everything and get settled in, just take a little at a time and enjoy your new home!

  36. It's all come together in a rush! You are doing well, with great helpers. Unpacking the boxes is a daunting task, isn't it. One at a time, and smooth and fold Every Single Piece Of Paper is my solution. Twice I've found small treasures stuck in the wrapping paper, so I'm really paranoid about it now - to the point of insisting I do it myself. I've also found that the paper takes up way less room once it's folded, so the trips to the recycling centre are fewer.
