As I said a few weeks ago .........car boot finds are few and far between. At probably the biggest boot sale since before covid, I looked at dozens of tables full of all sorts - mainly junk, and spent...........£3.50 on two cards, 4 books, a Dinosaur pairs game and a new Sudoko book.
I didn't know I needed a new Sudoku book until discovering the Level 5 ones in the book I've been working through for ages were totally impossible! (for me anyway) Level 1, 2 and 3 were easy, Level 4 a bit trickier but level 5.............hopeless.
There are two very old crime fiction there by Robert Barnard and Ann Cleeves. I've read one or two of her early books, before Shetland and Vera, but others were rubbish, so hope this is readable. The Robert Barnard is short stories. I've no idea about the two small non fiction books but as the lady said books were 50p each or 4 for a £1, I thought they might as well come home with me anyway.....some peoples pricing is very odd!
Need to make a note of what children's age cards I have/need as I nearly picked up an age 4 girls one before remembering that both my Granddaughters have passed 4 already! With 3 grandsons and the youngest not yet 1, plus 1 great Nephew, whatever I pick up for boys will get used.
Back Tomorrow
Sue
We have here a whole bookcase with female authors, it is a bit daunting. But this week three books have arrived by post, written by John Fowles, never read anything of his before.
ReplyDeleteI've not read him either - good luck
DeleteYes, good luck with John Fowles - I have found him very heavy going, but each to their own!
DeleteAll good useful finds this week at the car boot-I’m terrible at pricing things for car boot sales despite having volunteered for years for a charity. Wet, warm and windy here today so will find something useful to do indoors. Catriona
ReplyDeleteWindy here today but very hot -no rain yet again
DeleteI think we've only been to 2 boot sales this year, and I only bought a few books, nothing else took my fancy.
ReplyDeleteI wish books weren't always in muddled boxes on the ground - hurts my back looking!
DeleteSome good buys there, '50p each or 4 for a pound' does seem strange, it's usually 3 for a pound when it's done that way, perhaps she was just desperate not to take them home with her.
ReplyDeleteI think she was fed up with the whole idea of doing a car boot sale!
DeleteI "downgrade" level 5 suduko to level 4 before I begin to solve it by filling in the top left three and lower right three numbers from the back. I consider it repurposing not cheating!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea! I must remember that next time I get stuck "repurposing and not cheating!"
DeleteYou generally always find something you can use at the boot sales. Your finds are of good value and that is impressive.
ReplyDeleteI'm just constantly amazed at the amount of junk some people are trying to sell - they come there week after week trying to sell the same stuff!
DeleteNice finds. They fit in your life, always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteYears ago I was selling old paperbacks, about 30, for a nickel each. Loud man came along and insisted he'd take the lot for five dollars. I asked him twice if he was sure. He insisted, so fine, I let him do the math on his own time!
Well done on coming out on top of that deal!
DeleteThe thrift where I buy my sewing notions has books at 50 cents each but 4 for 75 cents.
ReplyDeleteReally nice finds for the prices. Books have gone up in price. I love buying them but really I have enough and am trying to get rid of some, but sometimes they just call out to me! That was the problem with the charity shops and The Works when I was back in England. I'd spend a fortune there if I had room in my suitcases (and my house!)
ReplyDeleteI've don't do sudoka often. I have one that's in my British Country Cottage I have on my laptop. I need to figure it out and play the game and win more points. Too bad my pets don't move in the app like they do on advent one. I bought some items while shopping at Fred Meyer that would help them for school. It's fun to purchase items for family especially when on sale. Hope you're staying cool.
ReplyDeleteYou did find some lovely things and at quite a reasonable price to.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I have tried sudoku and discovered that I am hopeless at it.
