Yesterday.................

I woke up twice in the early hours of Monday morning feeling very chilly, so after many weeks of sleeping under just the duvet cover decided it was time to put the duvet back inside it.

Quizzy Mondays with Only Connect and University Challenge are back on TV  and when I walked up the street to the bottle bank and post box before 9am and there was a touch of Autumn in the air.

I'd love the warmth to carry on for all of September and October if possible but the seasons will change regardless.

Back Soon

  1. Good to have Monday's Quizzes back - but it will be the last season of UC with Paxo!

    1. I'm not sorry to see the last of JP. Amol Rajan is much nicer!

  2. Snap - I've just said something similar in my blog. The thermometer doesn't measure significantly colder nights but they are feeling much cooler and it's definitely time to warm up the bed covers.
Oh, I missed quizzy Monday but they should have recorded, fingers crossed. I'm happy about them being back.
    Have a lovely day.

    1. Lovely to get the brain working on Monday evenings again - even if it's a bit slower!

  3. We noticed a very 'autumnal' feel to the air at dusk last night and it was a bit chilly when I came home about 8.30pm.

The last time we had a really, really cold winter in Cumbria was about ten years ago and it was below zero for six weeks without a break. So it could be said we are "due" for a cold winter and I hardly dare think about what this will do to families on limited budgets given how much fuels costs have risen.

(Wasn't University Challenge good last night?)

    1. I'm concerned for the parts of my family who are already on universal credit - it's a real worry

  4. It is a good time of year, getting the cosy feeling, and as you say better TV.

  6. Hope you enjoyed quiz night. It won't be complete until Mastermind comes back for me though. Unfortunately I went to sleep during University Challenge, so it's thank goodness for iPlayer!

    1. U.C was a very tight result. I not as keen on Mastermind as I was, not sure why really. Although I much prefer Clive Myrie as the question master

  7. Yes, same here. Now have a light cover on top of duvet cover and back to Jim jams.

  8. The first time we light the woodburner in the evening always makes me think that autumn is here - but as for the electric Aga it's going to need to be pretty chilly to switch that on with the energy bills hike!

  9. I'm loving the cooler nights, and I have had a summer-weight duvet inside my cover since about June, but the other night I put the extra little cover at the bottom half of the bed to keep my feet warmer.

Wasn't it nice to have Only Connect back last night, I afraid I can't bring myself to watch miserable and sarcastic Jeremy Paxman on University Challenge. He ruined it for me.

  12. The nights are cooler here too. I hated the hot nights because I wanted the fan, and my husband hates the noise of it!

  14. Current thermometer reading is 32c, feeling like 38c due to humidity. You do not want to go outside. Would very much like some cooler days and nights. :) Fortunately, we have a/c. Never survive our summers (as well as some of spring and autumn) without it.

  15. Please send that cool Autumn air my way. It's still baking hot with no sign of Autumn in Massachusetts.

  16. It really is cooling off at night. Getting up in the morning is quite the challenge some days. I wrap up in a shawl or blanket.

    God bless.

  18. I noticed how dark it was by 8pm last night. Quite a change. Much prefer the cooler nights now though, they are much more comfortable.
