All lovely and green, but the big change is that we had the lane resurfaced. It shook both cars to needing repairs within two months and nothing had been done to it for more than 10 years. We are sharing the cost with one neighbour, the other lot reckon they can't afford their share and their house is up for sale anyway and no-one lives in the 4th house - it's been empty since it was built 15 years ago - how weird is that and what a waste of a house.
Dog Roses are just appearing, they are pink as normal but appear white don't know why
Elderflowers are late this year
Comfrey growing wild here, I might cut some to add to the compost heap
Flags on the edge of the drainage ditch.
I'd like to have a picture of mother Mallard and her 5 ducklings here but they zoom off at great speed into hiding whenever anyone goes too close.
And finally the footpath sign pointing the way down our meadow.
Another trip up the lane on the last day of June

'Down our meadow' what a lovely thing to be able to type! It all looks idyllic x
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, we are going to plant some trees at the end in the autumn to make a mini wood
DeleteThe resurfacing looks fab, our driveway is full of pot holes, our two neighbours who are doing barn conversions have right of access, we have all decided there is no point in doing the drive until everyone has finished building work because of delivery lorries, the cost will be between 3 properties
ReplyDeleteIt's so much better, we can drive up and down without getting shaken to bits
DeleteHere in SE England, empty houses in generously sized gardens usually mean that the property has been bought by people who wait decades for the right time to sell on or build.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit of a mystery. The people live abroad and somewhere else in Suffolk so two homes already. We've heard they've tried to sell it a couple of times but then taken it off the market again. Very Odd
Deletebeautiful and tranquil. A lovely place to live. x
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely and quiet and no sirens unlike Preston Drive when we could hear them non-stop from Norwich road
DeleteWow I didn't realise you had so much land with your new home. It's very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAn acre all together in an L shape, with the house being on the bottom right corner of the L
DeleteThat should say the bottom left corner of the L - (going mad!)
DeletePleased that at least one of the neighbours shared the expense with you. Yes indeed so very green. No wonder you fell in love with this cottage.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. What a place to come home to and now doing it smoothly.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good. No more car~eating pot holes or new suspensions needed!
ReplyDeleteOdd about the empty house, isn't it?
It's so beautiful Sue. How lovely to live where you do and to have your very own meadow! X
ReplyDeleteThe lane looks good, as does the hedgerows.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of changes in such a short time! I find that when I'm out walking in the countryside. The same paths/routes can look completely different from one month to another...
ReplyDeleteThe Lilac Tree is a very gentle read. It sells for a few pounds on amazon so before you shell out for it I'm happy to send it to you if you'd like to borrow it. I'd quite like to keep it as I can imagine dipping into it again but am more than happy to lend it to you if you want to give it a go.
ReplyDeleteLisa x
Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The lane looks so much better now, but I think it's incredibly mean and tight fisted of the neighbours who are trying to sell their house to make no contribution to the cost!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that the lane's surface is now in good order will surely be a selling point for them, so they should have made a contribution.
However, there's nowt so queer as folk!
Hope Col's doing well. X
Thank you for these lovely pictures!
