Double Standards?

You know I don't like tat
All that stuff that travels in 10,000 trucks along the A14 from Felixstowe docks to the shops
The stuff that people moan about because it's filling the shelves long  before Halloween and Christmas
The stuff that people buy and show on their blogs while I think HA! rather not waste my money on that, thank you.

Well I've changed my mind
Thank goodness they do buy that tat new
Because then a couple of years later they sell it
And I can spend all of 50p on tat to brighten up my October mantel-shelf

(Edited in to say - apologies - this post sounds so mean and nasty - think I must have been in a bad mood when I wrote it a couple of weeks ago)

  1. 50p well spent! What gets me as a waste of dosh are the pictures which qualify as "art" to go on people's walls (the sort of people who have no taste!) They turn up regularly at car boot sales and really are only fit for burning! You know - "squares" of browny grey colours, poorly executed gigantic flowers, "suede" art!!

  2. The photo of the moon is lovely did you take it? I don't think anything is a waste of money if the person likes/enjoys what they're buying. It would be a very boring world if we all liked and bought the same things. And an even more boring blogland. xx

  3. I do agree with you, our local Facebook selling pages are full of things nearly new, used once and also brand new. If they are stupid enough to waste their money, on occasions I am happy to pay a reduced price, and yes I always haggle the price down if I can.

  8. They will look great on your mantel and it is good that the tat gets recycled and gives further enjoyment to another person. We all fall for it unless you are a hardened minimalist - I try to be selective now as the big concern is the plastic waste, which most of this is, will end up in landfill.
This week I bought 3 tiny empty tins from Ikea but I was tempted to buy the ones that had lights in too. Then I bought a tiny succulent plant -I chose the real one not the plastic version. I had no real need of them but sometimes it is nice to just buy things you like because you just like them.

  10. its always nice to find a bargain and if it's recycled kind of justifies tat. I have some tat and am not ashamed of it, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The header pic of the moon is beautiful.

  11. Maybe I'm a bit mean as well, haha. I am always appreciative that some women spend so much on clothes and then donate them to their local charity shop. My wardrobe largely consists of their give-aways.

  12. One man's expensive tat is another woman's bargain tat πŸ˜ƒ

Absolutely the right way to get seasonal so called 'must haves' and of course in lots of cases charity shops get the benefit.

  13. -grin- I just love it! That I am not the only one, who posts things, when grumpy!!!!

And then after, thinks maybe, I was a bit over-board on the grumps. -giggles-

    Welcome to being human, right?

And I learned a new word... "Tat" for *stuff*...
