The mystery of the hooded postbox................
This appeared in the village where BiL lives over 2 years ago. No one had asked for another postbox in the village, no one knew why it had been put there.
It's in a very bad spot, just as cars come out of the Village Hall car-park, blocking the view up the road.
The Parish Council asked Royal Mail why it had been installed there. They said they didn't know!
It's sat there covered like this ever since.
?????????????????????
(Thank you for all the comments about the Elderberry Syrup yesterday. I have no
idea if it really helps against colds but it tastes good and certainly
can't do any harm and Betty's comment about scientific investigation into the efficacy of Elderberries was interesting to know)
What a very odd place for a post box. And unusable too. Weird.

It's so strange that no one knows anything about it - I wonder if it's a hidden camera from Russia or China!!
DeleteI wonder if the A-frame blocks the view as well?
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts entirely Cathy.
DeleteThe sign is telling everyone that the Saturday Cafe is back at the village hall once a month - very good bacon baps!
DeleteI'd want to put a letter in it to myself, just to see if it ever gets delivered and how long it takes.
ReplyDeleteIt's all covered up in plastic and tape - so I think you'd be waiting years
DeleteJust had one spare..as you do.
ReplyDeleteIn nearby Lytham two post boxes have been treated to 3D crochet tops. One a very creditable Windmill and the other a bee plus other critters. Sorry I can't provide photos.
I've heard about the new fad for topping them but not seen any round here
DeleteIf it is in the wrong place you would think they could move it.
ReplyDeleteIt's all very strange
DeleteSeems like a waste to put it up but not take off the packing wrap. Hope they can move it and use it in a better locale.
ReplyDeleteA waste of everyones time at the moment and not needed there at all!
DeleteThat hooded post box is very odd. I'd be tempted to plant something and/or make an art sculpture out of it. That said, if re-invented it would probably be removed quickly.
ReplyDeleteIt's such an odd thing to appear where no one wants it
DeleteIt is a strange thing to install it but not uncover it for use. It certainly does raise a lot of questions. I would think the Post Office would check it out. That's an interesting picture Sue!
ReplyDeleteWhat an odd thing. Why put one up and then not uncover it?
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Bureaucracy in action!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting find! It does make me curious as to who put it there and why!
ReplyDeleteSurely somebody put it at the right spot on the wrong road. Is there another around there with a similar name?
