.................. Hard Work!
There was fine and warm weather for the village yard sales on Sunday, so well before the advertised start time of 10am I had set up my stall out the front. I was glad I'd got it sorted early because people stopped to look and I'd already sold a rug and the old kick stool by the time I remembered to get my camera for this photo.
Even got rid of old tools from Colin's workshop, they've already moved house three times! - luckily most sold for a few £.By 2pm it didn't seem likely that anyone else would be round so I packed up. The chair and shelves didn't sell and went back in the garage, one box-full of small things went straight into the car ready for a charity shop. I also put some things in the car to take to BiL who can burn them.
My next door neighbour had a stall too with a ton of children's toys from her two who are 10 and 7 but I was very good and didn't look too hard and it was good to chat to her as she and her husband are always so busy. I also spoke to someone who I'd last seen in 1978!
And it was worth hauling everything out of the garage because I got
rid of quite a lot of unwanted bits and pieces and ended up with £56.
Back Tomorrow
Sue
Well done and you didn't have to go far to do it! Our Sunday car boot sale was near Hereford and we took a similar amount.
ReplyDeleteCertainly easier than loading it all up for a car boot
Deletethat's great, it always feels good to have a clear out and earn a few pounds x
ReplyDeleteI was pleased with what went and with the money
DeleteOur village has had a jumble trail every month this summer, it's been very popular, we often walk around, don't buy much, but it's fun to get out and chat to people.
ReplyDeleteYes it was good to see so many people out and about
DeleteI have a couple of chairs like that and very useful they are for all sorts of occasions. I had cushions made to go with the sofa and chairs.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you managed to sell a good amount. It all helps.
xx
That chair is so heavy I can hardly lift it! It can stay in the garage for now but no where for it indoors
DeleteI'm glad you did well and surprised no one bought the chair.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could do something like that here but as we have no pavements, it would be rather difficult!
It's easier to look round if there are pavements but I've been to village sales on tiny village roads where everyone drives round and parks outside each house - it's always chaos!
DeleteWell done on the sale. A nice little fillip for the budget.
ReplyDeleteAll handy for the bank balance
DeleteWell done you. Tidier and richer. Two birds with one one.
ReplyDeletePerfect - and now the garage is looking much emptier
DeleteGlad you had some success! Now you have a little nest egg of money for your boot sales! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI hope I don't spend £56 at boot sales!!!
DeleteSo much easier than loading up a car for a car boot sale, but as you say hanging around outside all day must have been pretty hard work and at times boring.
ReplyDeleteCould you use the chair as a feature in a corner of the garden next Summer with pots on it and around it, if you don't want it and no one wants to buy it at least it would be useful until it falls apart. I have decided to do this with some of my older baskets next year so I can at least enjoy them with flowers in until they fall apart.
I'll hang onto the chair for now - maybe it will fit in the back of the car and I can take it to auction
DeleteI'm surprised the chair and shelves didn't sell, I'd have bought them (although, on reflection, I don't really have anywhere to put them, even if I did live near enough to buy them!!).
ReplyDeleteI'm sad I've got nowhere for the shelves as they are old and lovely
DeleteCongratulations on a successful sale! It's nice that you also got to visit with neighbors.
ReplyDeleteIt was good to chat to my neighbour and everyone calling in
DeleteI feel like I need to do the same thing...a little clearing out. We're in the country, so we don't get a lot of traffic, but you inspired me...I'll see if I can plan a yard/barn sale soon. And I agree with A Smaller Life...a chair by the door, maybe with a cheery mum or plump pumpkin would be pretty. And if you love the shelves, hold onto them...there's always a spot for something sentimental. They could hold little pots of herbs in the kitchen...Mary
ReplyDeleteI wish there was someone for the shelves then I would keep and use them but the walls all have cupboards.
DeleteWell done. We can't get to car boots any more but my daughter is going to do one soon so I'll get rid of some of my junk there.

Hope your stuff sells well
DeleteThe set-up and pack-up seems to be the big task of a yard sale. A friend once had a yard sale and she filled her entire front garden. As the day ended, she decided the pack-up was more effort than she wanted and put up a sign that said, "Free." A bit drastic, but it worked.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't too bad as I was right in front of the garage and lots of things went straight into the car boot at the end
DeleteWow, that sounds like a successful day - stuff gone and money in, a great way to make any woman smile :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a good day all round
Delete£56 definitely not to be sniffed at.
ReplyDeleteVery useful = about 10 second-hand books from amazon!
DeleteGood for you, clearing things out and making some cash as well.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Plenty of room in the garage now and handy money
DeleteThat was wonderful. I don't do what we call "garage sales" anymore. i donate it all to our local charity shop. win-win for everyone.
