The Scouting motto is Be Prepared and after 20 years as a Cub Scout Leader I still like to be ready for anything so when I spotted this in a charity shop it was bought straight away ready for next December's Advent blog posts!
Now I just have to remember this in 11 months time - can someone remind me please!
And the mention of carols reminds me that sometime this morning I must walk around to the United Reformed Church to see if this evenings carol service is on or maybe there will be a big CANCELLED stuck on the poster. I really hope not.
I so enjoyed the final of Strictly Come Dancing last night - some sparkle and happiness among all the news of doom and gloom.
Back Tomorrow

I'd been dipping in and out of Strictly (mostly out) but watched the final last night. I see Rose won it and rightly so. What talent and what a lovely girl she is.
ReplyDeleteThat and jam making cheered me up yesterday.
Good Charity Shop find.
I think Rose has inspired lots of deaf children with her dancing
DeleteI too enjoyed Strickley, both of them deserved to win and Rose was my choice. Kevin Beaties statue was unveiled at Portman Road yesterday, the pictures of it look great but I didn't get to see it as I am once more only listening to the home matches and watching mid week matches on my PC. I'll pop down in the New Year to see him.Valx
ReplyDeleteWow, didn't know about that statue. Kevin came from my home town of Carlisle.
DeleteI saw the statue on local news - not sure if it was very like him or not
DeleteIt was really lovely, wasn't it -I did feel so much for AJ and Kai but I always wanted Rose to win and was so pleased. The dancing was so level, there was hardly a hair's breadth to choose between the two of them.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for the Carol service.
xx
It would have been good with 3 pairs in the final but they managed to fill the programme time
DeleteI love a carol concert, lets' hope it's still on for you, but then I love Hymns as well and you don't get many of them now.

I love singing carols - takes me back to Sunday School days
DeleteI didn't watch Strictly. But I do like J John's writing. Always an encouraging read, not preachy, and a great sense of humour. What a bargain
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to share some pages from the book next year if it's suitable
DeleteStrictly was such an antidote to the world's problems wasn't it? Both pairs were equally superb. Rose and Gio were a delight and John and Johannes were brilliant but as John said - he didn't really mind who won and and their delight when Rose abd Gio won was easy to see. Wonderful to see.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see Gio win after being runner up a few times. A happy programme
DeleteOh good find. You have inspired me to do a advent calendrer next year. Another person I follow had one with all different herbal teas.

Hope you have some good ideas for advent next year
DeleteGreat book. Now...remember where you are putting it!
ReplyDeleteI'll put it with my other Christmas books But will I remember to get it out ready to do advent posts next year!?
DeleteI'm choosing to reject the gloomy news everywhere and am happy to do so. With vaccinations and booster shot completed, my choice is to be cautious and still enjoy life. I still mask in public indoor places, avoid large crowds, and use the "rapid test" when necessary. Your new book looks great and a very lucky find.
ReplyDeleteToo many worries about will they or wont they make us all cancel Christmas again - So annoying
DeleteI will look forward to your next year's posts now! If someone could remind me to remind you then you can count on me! I would like to personally thank you for your service to scouting as it is people like yur goodself volunteering that gives children all over some great skills for life. I fully endorse the uniformed groups for children and always always say they do better on the whole than the ones who didn't get to go. I used to be on the parent helper rota and would support any of the activities but that's as far as it went for me! My Mum used to be Tawny Owl at Brownies!
ReplyDeleteI loved being a CSL - always fun. After we moved across to the coast we tried running Beavers - but that wasn't good at all - then we were too busy with animals and growing stuff and the campsite and the smallholders society and that was the end. Now I'm much too old!
DeleteI hope your concert is still on.
ReplyDeleteLove the book, what a great find.
God bless.
Looks like another good book. You always find such interesting things. I hope the carol service isn't cancelled.
ReplyDeleteNow that's what you call planning ahead!! :-)
