Where and When...............?

There weren't many birthday cards for men  left in my card box after sorting out one for son and nephew so I checked out the decoupage folder.

And totally surprised to find these..............

They are not decoupage but die-cut sheets for making layered pyramid cards. But I don't remember buying them ...............no mention of them on car-boot posts ................ they wouldn't have been new that's for sure ................. so where did they come from? I have no idea, which is odd as I usually remember.

Anyway, I got stuck into a bit of cardmaking - these are so easy to do they feel like cheating.

I made up a couple of proper 3D decoupage too from sheets bought years ago from Craft Creations (still think it's a shame they stopped trading, especially as I have some large cards that I can't find decent envelopes to fit and it would have been so simple a few years ago)

Enough for several birthdays for the men in the family - next year and more.

Thank you everyone for comments yesterday about all the things our Mum's dosed us with back in the day. Children in 2022 don't know what they are missing!

  1. Have you ever made your own envelopes? That way you can use the large cards.

  5. I agree with the comments about making your own envelopes. I use old calendars to make colourful ones, then stick on a plain white label for the address and stamp

  7. Making matching or special envelopes is a lovely extra for a card. There are lots of templates online and you usually just need a ruler, scissors and something to score a line.

  9. Men are always harder to make cards for but yours are lovely. I really must get down to making another batch of cards for the local Hospice charity.

  10. Another vote for making envelopes. Either "wing it" or you can find templates online which you won't need to print, but they will give you the basic shapes and folds depending on whether you want a regular or fancy result.

Depending on the style of the card inside, I often use brown wrapping paper, with a little bit of decoration it can make a lovely envelope.

  11. Lovely cards. I too miss Craft Creations. I have lots of envelopes in different sizes if you put the size on here I can have a look if I have got some and send them to you. Helen S.

  12. It's a true mystery where you got those card sheets from, but what a good find just when you needed them.
I like all the comments about making your own envelopes, what a good idea. I'm often without an envelope for a greetings card in my stash because I've used it for something else ... a very naughty habit.

  14. Those cards are nice! I was coloring my own cards for awhile but got away from it as I couldn't find them anymore. I'll have to look out for some of the card kits when I am shopping at the resale shops... Thanks for the idea!

  15. Your cards for men are beautiful and custom. Making envelopes is a great idea. I have a couple shoe boxes of cards and often there is no envelope. The instructions online are excellent.

  16. Don't say that they're too easy. If you let your mind wander, it's easy enough to stick them out of sequence. And if accuracy is not your strong point, they can look dreadful. Why is it men so much more difficult to give cards to? I have to give one tomorrow and to be honest, I'm struggling to find something suitable. Envelopes are always such a problem, aren't they? I bought a lot of card blanks from craft creations. I still have them, but the envelopes have gone long ahead of them. On other projects. Still, as they say, where there is will there's a way.

  17. I love doing these cards. They are quick and easy. Over here we don't have lovely cheap card shops like there are in England (can buy at the $ shop but some aren't so nice) and the cards are so expensive! My plan is to definitely make more man cards as I tend to buy those and I am not going to keep spending $7 for a cheap looking card!

  18. The cards look lovely. Good idea! It's been years since I've made cards with stickers and stamps. I do make some with photos on it. I able to buy cards at Trader Joes that are 99 cents. I buy some at Dollar General that are good and cheap.
