A Strange Blog

I rarely use my phone for the internet because I have a lap top - much bigger and easier for  me - my thumbs can't do that high speed thing that kids do on their phones.
Anyway, a  week or so ago there was a comment on one of my posts about next doors house - someone thought it was my house and I said no, mine is the one in the middle of the header photo. Then I discovered that if you read blogs on a phone you don't get to see the header photo. So there I was fiddling about with google on my phone, starting off with my blog and finding weird other links.

Including this........... a blog called  'Blog on a Roll'  A Strange Blog with no information  about the person/people/computer/whatever running it. There are not many posts on it and the few there are date from last year but  one of them was a link to MY blog.....................

At The End Of a Suffolk Lane

So tonight I settle down to a good comfortable warm blog. http://attheendofasuffolklane.blogspot.co.uk/. Home living in Suffolk brought back memories of growing up in a village. Even the fireplace looks the same as ours. Growing fruit, car boots. its a bit like catching up with a neighbour. On top of that some frugal living tips, great stuff!

The really odd thing was the nice photo below the blog post - Definitely NOT the cottage at the end of a lane

So to whoever writes this strange random"Blogonaroll" blog. Thank you for saying I have a comfortable warm blog. Quite like that description but why write a blog and then only write a few posts, why write a blog that no one knows where it is to read and if you are going to write a post about my blog why didn't you tell me a year ago and I would have linked in to your blog. Perhaps now I've given you - whoever you are- a mention on the blog you will come out of hiding and write a comment here!

We will see

Hello and welcome to more followers, must be because of the fame of having John Gray write a post for me and other people on their  own!

Back Tomorrow

I agree with Blogonaroll - you have such a comforting, homey, friendly blog.

  2. And I agree with Joy! That blog seems to just be a random collection of other blogs....how strange.

  3. Whoever wrote that other blog more than likely started it and then fell behind and simply did not keep up. That is one reason I do not have a blog - my fear of not keeping up. It is odd they do not have a name listed or an "about" to tell a little about who they are. Well, they have good taste because you do have a comfortable, warm blog! It feels a little like coming home to come here and that is probably why you have so many followers!

  4. Interesting post about "the other blog". I started a blog several years ago and only just but the tittle and wrote about a few lines but ever really got it going. It's amazing was you can find on the internet.
It's a lovely morning at the moment. It's was a rough night and I have lost a fence panel and do hope my son-in-law will have time to fix it hope nobody else sets trouble,

  6. Whoever wrote the description about your blog captured it in a nutshell - it is like popping in everyday to see an old friend for a coffee and a chat.
PS I mean old as in a long time friend not a comment on your age of course!!!

  7. This person, Gregory Davies, has started seven blogs and abandoned them all. It's my guess that he intended to make money from them but didn't have enough content to keep them going. He is not a blogger in the true sense of the word. Many people think that all they have to do is publish blog posts, sit back and watch the money come rolling in. If they run out of ideas they embellish other people's work, passing it off as their own.

It's nice that you got a free advert.

    1. I hadn't thought about someone starting all the blogs to make money. If that was the plan he didn't do much to promote them

  8. I am relatively new to your blog but have been blogging for about 9 years myself and came to yours via Joy. You live in my favourite county where I have had holidays for about 30 years. I kept my caravan near Framlingham and spent many happy times at Tangham in the Rendlesham forest so I am quite familiar with the area. Your blog reminds me of those happy days.

  9. The weird (almost spooky) thing about writing an open blog that can be accessed by anyone is that there are all those people out there who 'know' about parts of our lives and yet we have no idea who they are. We might have someone who reads every post we make and yet they are nameless, faceless. I love the way that we often find other blogs of interest via blogs that we already read. Foe example, I am about to click on Diane's blog (above). Funny thing, the world of blog, isn't it?

  10. Update - Diane's blog is a private one so not able to access it!

    1. WOuld you like me to let Diane know you're interested in reading?

  11. I find it very spooky. Didn't Diane have trouble with someone "scrapping" (not sure this is right term) her blog content? This guy is in Italy so what is he writing a blog about your home town?
When I look at stats I see where my traffic is coming from. There was a blog I didn't recognize and when I clicked on it a Blogger comment popped up that the content was questionable (porn) did I want to proceed. I chose not to but have to wonder why a porn site would have links to my blog? The internet is a strange place!

    1. I think a lot of stuff is just computer generated. There must be hundreds of thousands of blogs that have started and stopped over the years, all sorts of things out there in the ether.

  12. Thanks to Ilona at least you know who this is now 🙂

It's a weird feeling isn't it seeing where we pop up. I'm always amazed to find my photos on Google Images.

  13. There are many blogs where the postings consist solely of references to other blogs, particularly in the 'design' field. Why blog about other people's blogs? Following links to what other people read, though, is a lovely way of expanding our range.

  14. So strange. I am glad you found out the whys and wherefores of this one.

When I have time I always check out a few blogs that those I read, read. I have found some lovely ones.

    God bless.

  15. Whoever wrote it captured your blog beautifully. I suppose some people do make money from blogs but I really find it distracting when ads keep popping up. Drives me crazy. I don't think I'll ever make money from blogging. I get distracted too easily and stop for a few days lol. It's more like an online diary for me and I'm thankful when anybody reads

  16. How strange, it hadn't really occurred to me that people make money from blogs. Like Sharon it more a record of crafting and walks for me.

  17. Just found you via John Gray (Going Gently) and have had a lovely time reading your 'Book Reads' and your Recipes. You have a new follower!

  18. That's funny - I always thought your house was the one in the front left of the header photo! I agree that your blog is a good, comfortable, warm blog. I've found that when you read a blog on your phone you can scroll down near the bottom and choose "view web version" or "view mobile version". View web version will show you the whole header as well as side bars.

    1. Yes my house is the one on the left of the 3 and in the middle of the photo!

    2. Your house is on the left in the center of the header photo. For some reason I read middle of the houses to start with.

  19. I always thought your house was the far left, but you said yours was the middle one.. then I noticed that the far left house IS in the middle of the photo.. so is it the one in the middle of the 3 houses or the one in the middle of the photo? :-)
    ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. On the left of the three houses but middle of the photo. If it was the one in the middle of the 3 houses then it wouldn't be at the end of the lane!
Hows that for confusing everyone!! :-)
