The March Library Book Haul

4 weeks and it's library van visit again...........time flies when you have good book to read. Trouble is I've got rather too many!

This month I collected this lot, all ordered online and by chance all arriving at the same time.

The book at the bottom of the heap is something I saw mentioned well over a year ago, it must have been published late to have taken this long to arrive. There are as always lots of crime fiction including Yippee Do! the new Rory Clements, the new Kate Ellis and best of all the new Elly Griffiths. There are a few here by authors I've not read before. Also a couple more non fiction including the intriguingly named "The Real Witches Garden" and "Red Rag to a Bull" subtitled Rural life in an urban age.
I'll let you know how I get on with them all.

I took back some of the fiction and  non fiction from last month's haul.
I've read Mrs Tim of the Regiment, Toll the Bell for Murder and Spring Magic. Currently reading The Year of the Gun. After just glancing at the Economical Environmentalist, and Better than Before I knew I wouldn't bother to read. I've kept the rest with every intention of actually getting into them.
Books I've read have been added to the separate Books Read 2019 page.

Which means I have  22  library books here at the moment! This is quite an achievement because we are only supposed to have 20 at a time..........good thing the library man can over ride the system.

If I disappear it will be because I've been buried under a heap of falling library books.........just like something out of  one of the crime novels!

Back Tomorrow............. I hope
Sue

  1. Gosh, there's a reading challenge! I am struggling to find time to read much at all at the moment - in fact this morning, struggling even to stay awake as I woke at 4.30 and that was it for the night.

I can recommend the Elly Griffiths. The others are all strangers to me.

  2. Lots of books but then they do have to last you a month. Some of my favourite authors there. I'm now number two in the queue for the latest Elly Griffiths at our local library, I started at 26! Joy Ellis and Kate Ellis are firm favourites also Donna Leon. I have 'Rewild Yourself' at the side of the bed at the moment and read a chapter each day:)

  3. How interesting to see the author Jamie Blackett. Must be the same Jamie who lived next door to us more than 20 years ago when my husband was serving. Our children used to play together and I will be eternally grateful to his lovely wife who dressed my little girl on her first day ever at primary school because my back went "ping" and I couldn't move! Seeing the name has brought it all back! Will go and read this - so thanks for showing it! Happy reading!

    1. I love audiobooks. And as my eyesight has been giving me problems, large print or even eBooks so I can adjust the font size has been a real help.

  7. Mrs. Tim of the Regiment has just arrived and is sitting on my coffee table alongside another pile of library books - and yes, all the holds seem to arrive at once!
I see you have a Donna Leon in the pile - she is one of my favourite authors - I currently have a hold on her latest - which hasn't as yet been published in Canada - think it's due the end of May. I think this will be book 26 or 27 in the series and I've read them all.
I just finished "Transcription" by Kate Atkinson and heartily recommend it - about a woman recruited by MI5 during WWII.

  8. I see a few on there that I wouldn't mind reading and one that I think I have lol. I finally read all my library books and took them back (as well as a donation of books for our library bookshop) and managed not to bring any more back with me. I am concentrating on reading some of the ones I have. I admit that books are my guilty pleasure. I can't imagine going without reading for long. I usually read - even if it's just a little - every day.
