December 19th and the Jesse Tree Art Trail

Jesse Tree  Art Trail?

No, I had no idea either

This was something I'd not heard of before I thought I'd better go and have a look.

I didn't go round all the trail as the weather was cold, grey and damp.

Here are a few photos, not in the right order and much too much reflections in windows  but you'll get  an idea of the variety of  art mediums used.

Certainly something different.

  1. Very different. I've never heard of that either. It's obviously a thing; there are plenty of Google links. I rather like it.

  2. I first came across them in 2008. I made a simple one which we hung in the church, and it aroused a lot of interest. https://angalmond.blogspot.com/2008/12/more-about-jesse-tree.html

  3. I've never heard of that before. I think I ought to move to a town which embraces art, nothing like that here.

  4. I have not heard of this, but it looks like a good idea, something different to hopefully draw in the crowds to the heart of a village or town, rather than the out of town shopping centres.

  5. Something really different. It was nice to see Joseph in a different light.
We had a lovely sunny day yesterday but today back to rain. My daughter us taking me to Waddesdon today to see the Manor all decorated up, at least it is in the dry.

  7. New to me too. Was there some significance to all the works being round?

  8. We have set up a Jesse Tree in our church for a number of years. The ornaments are made by the Children's Liturgy class many moons ago. Our youngest parishioners love to look at it and have the ornaments explained to them.

    God bless.

  9. Another good reason to 'shop local'. Much more fun than shopping online.

  10. I've not heard of a Jesse tree art trail before but I would enjoy following it around the town. Trying to photograph window displays is really hard with the reflections always getting in the way. You did really well. Thank you for your comment on my blog.

  11. Interesting.... -smile-

"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos…"

  13. This is new to me but it is a wonderful way to celebrate the season with works of art.

  14. What a lovely idea. I've never heard of it before, but a wonderful way to tell the Christmas story and for artists to demonstrate their talents.

  15. Thanks for sharing! I love these art trails. I must admit that I saw a lot of the elephants in Ipswich while visiting mum this summer

  16. Great - I'd never paid much attention to the Jesse Tree, it was confused with the Tree of Life in my mind.
