December 1st and the Advent Calendar

Every year since 2015 my December blog posts have been a photo-a-day of something relating to Christmas.
Shall I do something different for 2019?
Nah!
Why change when you're having fun?!

So here we go
My 1st Advent Photo for this year.

I wasn't going to bother with a calendar, but then I thought ..... actually I like choosing a calendar  and opening a door every day so this year I found this big free-standing  one. It's a village scene with the 3 Kings and their camels coming in on the right and the shepherds approaching on the left but a very English speaking HOTEL and CAFE in the middle!

Behind door number 1, in an upstairs window is a person carrying a candle on their way to bed.

Happy December everyone!

Back Tomorrow

  3. Love the Advent Calendar Sue - not sure where I would put it but I really would rather like one. Yes, December is here and Christmas is almost upon us - I love the time of year but it does always stir up memories doesn't it. Our grandchildren (and in my case great grandchildren help though).

  5. Interesting twist on the theme indeed. I have one every year too, Mum always bought one for me, so I am continuing to do so now. I have quite a collection! Another reminder that Winter will soon be upon us, if the weather wasn't enough anyway!

  6. I love your calendar Sue. My daughter always buys me a calendar i.can remember when there was almost everyday had something happening, but since I have moved I am not so activite but the calendar still reminds me when I have had a phone call or I must ring somebody. I still put something on it if I have something nice has happened, like this morning it's a beautiful sunny day here.

  7. How very lovely your advent calendar is Sue. I have after many years without treated us to a Wrendale Christmas Cottage calendar. Door one has revealed a hanging dried orange slice! x

  9. That lovely scene has cheered me up. I was looking at advent calendars the other day and they all seemed to be brash cartoon character things. When I was a child they were things of wonder, beautifully illustrated winter scenes drenched in glitter or nativity scenes, equally encrusted. I know that we are not supposed to use glitter now as it is bad for the environment, but I do miss the beauty of the imaginative illustrations.
