A Windy Sunday

On Saturday I arrived at the big Boot Sale at the same time as it started to pour with rain, so I turned round and went out again.....and so did everyone else.
Didn't even bother to try on Sunday as it was grey, chilly and very windy. Instead I baked scones and went out for a walk across the back field.

I have no idea if this video will work,  and because it was so windy you can't hear the skylarks that I could hear and most of my words were blown away too.

The footpath down my meadow and out onto the field isn't used much and mainly by local people, but if I'd done this walk just a while later I would have turned round and seen a large group of ramblers appearing - which would have been quite a surprise. I looked online and found they were Ipswich Ramblers group doing a nine mile walk in the area.

If we all have to stay at home and isolate ourselves at least I'll still be able to walk the path in the middle of nowhere.

Later I finished  this cross stitch, after it had been sitting half done in a drawer for about 2 years.  I've been right off stitching for all that time.
I used to stitch this design a lot when I was stitching to sell cards at the Country Market. It's quick and easy but looks quite effective especially when done on this marbled blue Aida. Just need to get it into a card blank......which mustn't take two years to do.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  1. We had a dry weekend. Strange that you had rain. I like the cross stitch. Reminds me of school. We were forever making tray cloths! I started another jigsaw.

    1. It was wet Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. I've got 4 jigsaws here you can borrow if you run out - I still haven't got back to doing them.
Of course you'll need to wipe them with a germ killer sanitiser thingy!!

    2. I always wash after a jigsaw session in any case, you never know where they have been! I have another one in store after this one.

  2. Four months isolation for old folk is just normal living for me, so doesn't phase me at all. This isn't a cue for violins, but I have been semi-isolated since moving to Wales thirteen years ago and more so now in Devon. It is what it is.

Love your cross stitch, I have a weakness for lighthouses.

    1. The lighthouse cross stitch in a card always sold well, I must have stitched it a dozen times.

I was pretty isolated up the end of a lane - turns out it's a good thing!

  4. Sorry you did not go to the car boots I expect they will be finishing soon or thou they are out side in the fresh air.

My daughter is going to do my shopping for the next few weeks and my son is coming on the weekend and he wants to bring some essentials, I won't say no they are good children.

I think the weather is going to be good this week so hopefully I will do a little in the garden.

  5. We had a weekend of April showers … very strange for March. Bright sunshine, sudden showers and then wonderful rainbows … and yes, even an hours rain had the saturated fields opposite flooded again.

  6. I did manage to hear the skylarks. Haven't actually heard one for years, they used to be up on the Dyke but there aren't many left there now.

  7. My word, it was windy, wasn't it?
A lovely cross stitch pattern. It will be nice to maybe have more time to focus on our crafty things, won't it, whatever they may be?

  8. Like you I'm fortunate to be able to walk out of the front door, straight across the fields and into woods. Don't know how I would cope self-isolating in a flat.

  9. Funny that you mentioned cross stitching. That's one of my goals - to finish a cross stitch that I probably started 20 years ago!! I have nothing but time, now. Take care. -Jenn

  10. i love to cross stitch but I'm not as good at it so it takes me a long time. I have several pieces that are in various states--some have been started, some are still waiting for me to pick them up. I did a few pieces a few years ago and really enjoyed them, but they were pretty easy. I love the lighthouse. It is so cheerful.

  11. I love the cross stitch. What a nice card that will make! It's great that you have so much beautiful open land for taking walks. I've been wanting to get outside but we've had nothing but cold, rainy days recently.

  12. Yes Sue, I suspect we are all going to get a lot of things done as we isolate ourselves from others. I have a half finished teddy bear in desperate need of being sewn up.

  13. Enjoyed watching your video of the lovely field you can walk and enjoy. I bet it was lovely today in the sunshine.
Pretty cross stitch finish, I think a lot of crafter will be enjoying doing more in the enforced isolation we will be having.

  14. I also have returned to cross stitching after a long hiatus. I think I will make my coronavirus challenge to finish some of my UFOs(and maybe clean out some cupboards too) Best wishes to all from southern Australia

  17. Good to see you returning to your cross-stitch. I still haven't returned to my art, just not felt like doing it yet.
Must be wonderful hearing those skylarks. They are the sound of countryside to me, although we also used to hear them among the sand dunes.
    Take care, Mxx

  18. I suspect that many of us "Crafty people" will be digging out half finished projects if we are "confined to base". Currently I'm busy helping OH set up a PHONE-BUDDY system for the vulnerable folk from church. Strange times...
