The March Library Book Photo

I don't know why lots of people first thing in the morning couldn't see the photos on yesterdays blog post about Badingham church. They were all fine on drafts and on the published post that I could see. A temporary blip I hope, difficult to know what to do when everything looks OK on my lap-top. And they came back later apparently - so that's good.

Because of the mobile library van being off the road 4 weeks ago I was looking forward to collecting lots of books and there were all this lot waiting for me

There are 5 crime, including two by authors I've not read before and the most recent book by Tracy Chevalier. Then all the rest are non-fiction, a couple recommended by other bloggers. 'The Foragers Calender', 'Root to Stem' and 'Eat to Beat Disease' are all what I call looking at books, not for reading straight through.

These should keep me busy for a while. I got through 9 of my own books when I was without library books which have been added to my Books 2020 page and had started M for Malice in the Sue Grafton A,B,C series (one of my collections) but that's gone back upstairs while I tackle the library books.

I've still got lots on order, some have long waiting lists and others still not yet in library stock but as the library man said "who knows if I'll be round in 4 weeks or if we'll all be shut down"! Oh dear.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  2. I call your "looking at books", "dippy books": good for dipping in and out.

    1. There are wonderful mudlarking videos on YouTube. I esp love the ones who search the Thames banks. Well worth a look and of course close ups of everyone's finds. [Nicola White. Sy-Finds. etc.] if the subject interests anyone.

  3. You'll love the Ellie Griffiths. There's a new one of hers out in hardback, but I can't bring myself to pay £9.50 for it (Tesco offer) so I shall wait for it to come out in paperback. Glad there's a new Tracy Chevalier too, I love her writing. Let me know what you think about the Mudlarking book - looks interesting and it keeps coming up in FB recommendations.

    1. I'm on the long waiting list for the other new Ellie Griffiths. Nice to have a new Tracy Chevalier- she takes 3 years to write a new book I found

  4. I looked up Mudlarking as Bovey Belle mentions it above. I note that it has no illustrations and people gave up with it because they couldn't visualise the finds. It will definitely be interesting to hear your take on it.

    1. It kept popping up on recommendations so thought I would have a look. The joy of library books - I can just return it if I don't like it

  5. Cheerful library man! But I suppose he's right, who knows what our lives will be like in a month's time, due to this virus. I've gone off reading (shock, horror, it's never happened before) so don't get any library books now....by the time they're due for return, I still haven't read them.

    1. Girl with a Pearl Earring is the only one I've not read - mainly because it was the first famous much lauded - that puts me off.

    1. I found them all secondhand over the years and M is my next to read. Yes I have a copy of Kinsey and me and good to hear someone has finished the 'Z for' after Sue Grafton died

  8. Hi Sue,Your pictures and blog looks o.k to me today. Some of my pictures disappeared yesterday too . I deleted the empty box/space where they were and put them on again . It was very odd and I took a look in settings and not a lot of whats in there made any sense to me ? lol ! So I just have my fingers crossed that everything is o.k now . The "Fingers crossed" method works for me sometimes ! :)x

  9. Some interesting books in your photo, I popped into the library this week and it was very quiet, I half expect to hear that libraries, museums and etc will be closed for a few weeks soon. I've read three of the books in your pile - A Single Thread, Now you see Them and Mudlarking and enjoyed them all:)

  12. Scribbling down some of those titles as I read - I must see if I can get them through our library...if they are still running the service at the end of the month! Never mind, I can still get them ordered, ready for when things return to normal.
