Looking For a Cross Stitch Kit

I've finished another little cross stitch picture for a card

Koalas with googly eyes.

I have a request..........do you do cross stitch or know people who do. Please could you ask around and see if anyone has a chart for the little owl on the right. It would have been a free kit on Cross Stitcher Magazine but no idea how long ago -I'm guessing within in the last 10 years.

The  kit made a scissor case which, with the scissors in the case, made the handles look like the owls eyes. I don't need the kit - just the chart.
I saw these 3 kits on ebay and they sold for.........wait for it................. £19!!!

This is probably a vain hope but while I keep fingers crossed I'll start another little picture for a card.
Purple Irises this time I think

  1. Blimey! I wish I'd been selling them!! I am pretty sure I haven't got them as I've not bought a x-stitch mag for a long long time. I'll ask my friends Gay and Gail who do a lot of x-stitching though.

    Like your little googly-eyed chap!

    1. Cross stitch kits are going for crazy prices on ebay. Luckily I have enough charts to keep me busy, but when I saw this owl I thought it looked interesting to do and perhaps could be a present.

  4. I've had a rootle amongst my collection of kits but no luck. However, I did come down with three that I rather fancy starting to stitch so thank you for getting my motivation up.

I found quite a clear picture of it which I have emailed to you. It looks clear enough to work out the pattern.

  5. I used to cross stitch and with prices like those on eBay I must be worth a fortune! I have hundreds of American publications and charts, with two big boxes full of cloth and floss. I do know, however, and I am sorry, that I don't have that particular chart.

    1. Everyone must be like me and turned to x stitch to fill their time. I couldn't believe what prices kits are going for on ebay.

  6. Sorry if this is a daft question, but couldn't you draw up your own chart from the picture? I used to cross stitch at school when I was about 8 and teacher used to hand write the chart on a piece of graph paper for us. It doesn't seem like rocket science.

    1. The picture is a bit fuzzy and difficult to see exactly how it was made. But Angela has found a clearer photo and I'm trying to get the other link she sent with no luck as yet. But Joy has emailed me a photo that is bigger - although my printer isn't working well enough to print it out. I might be able to draw up a pattern - if I can find some squared or graph paper.

  7. Sorry I have not got a cross stitch pattern but I have got a little crochet pattern for a OWL key ring I made a lot for a charity stall. I must get moving its Songbirds this morning.
The sun is out at the moment and I want to do some washing.

  13. I like your card, I think the googly eyes are fun. I had a look for the owl, but I haven't got one. I did come accross some small kits, I haven't done any cross stitch for about 13 years, not since I went over to other card making. Helen S.

  14. What a sweet cross stitch. I've been looking for a small kit but was flabbergasted at how much they're going for on EBay so I didn't bother. I usually pick a decent sized one up from The Works for about £2 but I've done all the ones they've got. Hope somebody can help you with the chart. Would it be hard to re-create using the one you've already done as a guide? xx
