Strange Times; Wednesday of Week 9

I have these on my table for a few days. They are so pretty but grow like a weed in the quarter circle flower garden. Cross pollinating and seeding themselves and however many I dig out they still smother everything again the following year.
It's a shame they don't last long indoors.

That wind was blinkin' cold on Monday, I was glad there was no need to venture out except for walking up and down the meadow a couple of times. Stepping out of the meadow onto the farmers field the first thing I spotted was this..............A heart shaped stone with the corner chipped off, just about right for the anniversary of Colin's passing away I thought.

Ventured out to the Post Office yesterday and the 4 envelopes containing the 1,000th post  giveaways have been posted. I thought it quite random that they went to Scotland, Wales, England and that other country.............. London! (Well it was Essex-on-the-edge-of-London really but at the moment that is almost another country!)

When I asked about getting a copy of the owl scissor case chart after seeing the kit on ebay someone said that another kit the same had come up for sale on there again. I watched to see how much it sold for.........£9! Plus postage - blimey! So thank you again to everyone who found a way of getting a copy online for free, the first stitching has been started. I'm hoping to make a few of these for Christmas gifts. Luckily I have pieces of felt needed to back the stitching - when I cleared out lots of craft stuff it was the cross stitch things and some material including felt that I kept (as well as some paper craft/cardmaking bits) what a good choice that was.

Thank you again for all the kind and caring comments on Monday, seems several people reading have had a loved one pass away recently. As  my SiL said .....there is an amazing caring support network in Blogland. Thank you also for comments yesterday. I was so busy trying to remember to write down everything I did for the Mass Ob. diary that I only replied to a few and had a fail day on leaving comments elsewhere too.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  1. Well I will consider myself lucky then as I got a comment! Blinkin' cold indeed. Not even any blue sky this morning.

    1. 5pm just went down the meadow - freezing! Had oil filled 600 ltres for half the cost of 500 - cheaper than getting a tree cut for wood

  2. I'm sure the heart shaped stone was placed there especially for you to find. It's beautiful. I can't believe how long it has been since your husbands passing, it seems like only yesterday that I was reading about you going to see him in Hospital.
I think you have been incredibly brave to carry on the way you have, not sure how I will be if Tom goes, he is getting worse as time goes on.

    1. I guess the idea of being alone was there right from the day they said 'not curable', mentally preparing for 3 years I think although I didn't know I had been

  3. A beautiful stone and very apt. I thought about the mass observation then forgot, twice. Same here with columbines but I love them and like you, pull them up when necessary.

  4. I've been keeping a journal ever since this all began in March along with snippets of information that have popped through the door, I thought it would be nice to pass this on to my granddaughter as she is only three and may want to look back on it in years to come. How lovely that you found the stone around Colin's anniversary xx

  5. I came across a pile of felt squares recently when going through my craft cupboard. If you would like some, let me have your addy (I can delete it so it doesn't show on any post).

Fancy finding that heart-shaped stone - I keep finding small white feathers ever since my best friend died.

I did a Mass Observation diary - I'll need to go back to it this morning and edit any rambling bits!

  6. Sorry I have got behind on reading and commenting yet again. I have a lot of those flowers popping up all over my garden as well. They are pretty, I didn't think to bring some inside. I might do that even if they don't last long.

    How lovely to have found that little 'anniversary' heart stone, so apt. {{hugs}}

    Take care.

    1. I've got lots of stones with holes, we used to search for them everytime we went to the beach when we lived at the smallholding. They are threaded on a wire and hang on my weird garden ornament thing

  9. I've just had a blitz of the aquilegias, leaving just a few. What's the betting they will all be back next year. They're very pretty so I don't mind really.

  10. I love the little chipped heart shaped stone and the timing of it's being found. I remember walking the full length of a beach down in Bognor Regis looking for a heart shaped pebble, but they are only found when they are meant to be found it seems and I didn't that day.

  11. You were meant to find that stone. I've got all sorts of stuff coming through in the beds we haven't cleared......millions of bulbs. Once they've flowered I'll decide whether to keep or pull up to make way for fruit, veg and cut flower bed.

  13. The colours of the flowers are really pretty. I treated myself to some tulips today and it really was a treat as I've not bought any flowers since LD began. I totally mis-understood the cross stitch request, I thought you'd already done one and just mislaid the pattern. I'm still hunting for a small kit myself but not having much luck. xx

  16. The heart stone is so pretty. A good memory for you to keep. I am sad Colin passed away last year. It's hard to lose a spouse, I'm sure. My mom died nearly 6 years ago. Sad she's gone but grateful for her belief in Jesus. There's always good memories to remember our loved ones. Dad has been gone for 34 years. Our son was 2 when he passed so he doesn't remember him. May you feel God's presence in your life. Prayers and hugs, my blogger buddy!
