Still Waiting

I'm still waiting for a moving date. My next holiday let for the week beginning 12th is a caravan on a small Holiday and Leisure site in Mid Suffolk where I go for car boot sales.

It was a toss up between there and Felixstowe but I decided it would be better to stay close to everything rather than 25+ miles away, although being by the sea is more appealing.

Neither my solicitor or Mr and Mrs B (current owners of the bungalow) know what the hold-up is. I'm just hoping the chain hasn't been broken somewhere.

If things are still not sorted by the 19th then I shall be throwing myself off a cliff in despair!..........which will be difficult as we don't have many high cliffs in Suffolk. You have to laugh.

Back sometime
Sue

  1. You certainly have to have a sense of humour. So unsettling and all for saving your buyers some stamp duty. Try to be positive. :-)

  2. I wish house buying and selling in this country wasn't such a 'fluid' process in respect of timescales - and I'm a bit fed up of C0vid still be being blamed for the slowness of some things... We exchange today on a small BTL we own (bought originally for husband's late mum to live in) - it's been bought by investors so no chain. Has been SSTC since 11th August... and only completing today.

Fingers crossed you get the OK on the bungalow soon - ours went from zero to high speed in 24 hours in the end (we exchanged last week, but the Bank Holiday apparently then delayed completion....) at least ours is just an empty rental - nothing like when it's a personal property.

Hope you get some good news soon!

  3. What's frustrating is that you can't just get on the phone and sort things out. It's hard enough to get to speak to ones own solicitor let alone any of the others who won't because of professional ethics.

  4. How frustrating (understatement!) for you, Sue. Stay sane, if you can - I know I wouldn't.

  5. We have been trying to get an update from our Advocate (Solicitor) on our house purchase for 4 weeks now. They are working from home and I don't have a 'phone number, just an email address which never responds. So frustrating!

  8. Fingers crossed that things will move along very soon. With our last but one move it was 48 hrs notice! It's very frustrating to say the least when you have no idea what's holding things up.

  9. So utterly frustrating for you. Love and prayers winging your way. I so hoped you'd be in your new home for your birthday.

  10. How frustrating for you, Sue. I hope things get sorted sooner rather than later. I would think tossing the lawyers off the cliff would be much more appealing than doing it yourself!

  11. Hope things will be moving soon. I only had 2 days or wait 2weeks because it was only 3 days before Christmas just had time to do the tree before I moved in. Thinking of you.🌈🌈hazel c uk

  13. I can understand you must be wanting to bang your head against a brick wall by now Sue. I do hope that you get everything sorted out soon, but heaven knows what the hold up is - Land Registry? I do hope it's not a broken link in the chain.

  14. What a nightmare. I hope it gets sorted so that you get a date for that following week.

  15. At least you can still laugh, it must be so frustrating for you. Here's hoping it will all be resolved soon.

  16. Probably best to be prepared to stay in the caravan for a few weeks. I hope the weather gets warmer!

  17. How terribly frustrating, Sue. All good wishes.

  18. I admire your attitude of being practical and even finding humor in the situation! Hope you are settled soon!

  19. If the weather is warm a caravan could be a nice change, for a week or two anyway!

  20. It's a good job you haven't lost your sense of humour. Can you stay on in the caravan for a while longer ... if necessary?

  21. Argh .. what an aggravation! And no one knows the hold up. Stay strong!

  22. Sorry for your wait for your bungalow but prayer helps so I'll have you on my prayer list. If you fall off a cliff put some bubble wrap around yourself so you won't hurt so much. 😂☺ha...don't fall please. Be strong and courageous in the Lord. ☺🙏🌷🍰

  23. What do we pay solicitors for if not to find out and deal with problems. Hope the chain isn’t broken:(

  24. I do feel for you. I know someone who had to take a 6 month lease on a flat when solicitors dragged their feet, so I hope you can chivvy them along.

  25. Sue you deserve a medal for fortitude - just keep telling yourself that one day you will get into your new property and all will be well

  26. You are a "saint" to work with these ongoing delays. Delays are inconvenient and costly; nobody likes them. I begin to wonder, is incompetence or just bureaucracy the cause? I'd be ready to set an ultimatum.

  27. Oh, my! Hope you get GOOD news very, very soon!

  28. Sue you have the patience of a saint! I have had you in my thoughts so much these past weeks. I'm crossing my fingers and sending positive thoughts for this to start moving and get completed for you!

We made the decision I would move near family in Florida during the fall months...what caused the holdup? COVID vaccine. I could not travel until I had that...it happened January and February. My son found a condo for me...bought it in 24 hours...I moved...left Indy March 10
My daughter gets her second shot today and will be visiting soon...four months plus waiting but am used to it having moved so often...

  30. How unsettling for you not to know what is happening. Hope it all sorts out sooner rather than later, and you can have a 'home' again. Mxx

  31. Feeling so frustrated for your situation.
When I was being given the run around with a property settlement I told my Solicitor I would call The Law Society and see if they could clarify the situation.... funny that it got all sorted within days.

  32. No rush. That's the joy of being older and alone, no rush, no fuss. No job waiting, no schools, no pressure from.anyone else. Why everybody who comments is so fussed about it I cannot imagine. It is just taking its time. See you soon at Morrisons.

  33. I hope it gets sorted out soon Sue. I would love to explore new areas though while I was waiting, so many new things to see!

  36. How thoroughly tedious, I'm so sorry this is dragging on and costing you in the process! Looks like the bootsale will be back on the 18th though - maybe you can pick up a couple of books to keep you going?

  37. I'm glad you can laugh about the situation and admire you for it. I know I couldn't cope with the uncertainty. Thinking of you.

  38. Oh Sue! No wonder you are at the end of your tether! Not having an End Date is depressing, tiring, and plain infuriating! I do feel for you . If you’re not into alcohol, I’d prescribe CHOCOLATE! Hugs....

  39. This would be so very aggravating to me. I am glad that you found something to laugh at. I'd chuck everything into storage, and go visit a good friend who wouldn't mind an uncertain departure date.

  40. Just a long waiting game, and stressful.. but you'll move eventually like us.
