My First Blog Post was 8 Years Ago

Yesterday was  a Blogging Anniversary and this is a lazy way to fill a post!

 4 April 2013

New blog on blogspot

Well, here I am on blogspot trying to write a new blog about a frugal and simple life in Suffolk and getting very annoyed when I can't work out how to do things right.

I obviously got the hang of it because a year later......2014..... I was writing about the smallholding and the things I wanted to look out for at car-boot sales   HERE

Then on the 4th of April 2015, my post was about seedlings, Easter baking and opening the campsite HERE

I didn't do a post on the 4/4/16 but on the 6th HERE I wrote about being home alone in the small bungalow and going with youngest for her scan......the first sight of Florence!

In 2017 we were at the cottage and the post was all about BOXES OF BOOKS. 25 boxes of books stacked in the corner of the living room for several months while I dithered over spending hard-earned savings on bookshelves.

This is my post from 4th April 2018

Because yesterday we had a rare occurrence..........no rain, a bit of sun and not too much wind so for 15 minutes I opened the doors wide to let the fresh air blow through. It felt lovely.

Then Col came in from outside and said "why are you letting all the heat out?" and shut them!

On the 4th April 2019 my post was one of the Suffolk Church visits HERE

It was Strange Times Week 3 for my 2020 Post  See it Here

That's it for looking back  .......................now onto my 9th year of blogging.

I'll be back when I have some news - not this week for sure.

(Editing in to say........ I have no idea why this post looks strange. It didn't in drafts)

  1. Such a good idea to take a snapshot of one day over several years - thank you for the idea.

    1. Half of this post is copied from the same thing about 4 years ago - double cheating!

  2. Col shutting the doors and saying "Why are you letting all the heat out?" made me chuckle!

I imagine the Camp Site made for a lot of work so perhaps you don't miss that so much, but I am sure having the smallholding side of things brought joy - as well as hard work.

We have woken up to cloudy skies and a cool wind - glad we enjoyed the sunshine whilst we could. Yesterday was perfect gardening weather and I made the most of it.

    1. The wind is freezing here today and I only walked to the bottle bank 200 yards up the road!
We both enjoyed our time at the smallholding - Col was much better with the visitors than me - cleaning the loos and the floors was the worst bit

  3. I remember finding your blog and liking your header photograph of apples and a jug which looked very homely. I also remember when Weaver and her husband visited you at the smallholding. How long ago was that?

    1. I will do a header photo again when I get moved and settled. Not much to photograph at the moment

  4. It's nice being able to look right back isn't it, you got up to so much and so much has changed over the years.

Unfortunately I deleted my very first blog which I started in 2008, but the whole of Our New Life in the Country is there as a similar snapshot of our history.

    1. Looking back is good but sad - perhaps not a good idea for a cold Easter Monday stuck in a holiday let!

  6. Happy Blog-versary or whatever the term is. Well done for continuing to produce an interesting read every day!
STYLE ISSUES Do you prepare your text in Word and then paste it in? If you do, once it is written, try selecting all, then clicking clear formatting, before you cut and paste. That should get rid of the white highlighting round the words.

    1. I do everything in the drafts part of the design/dashboard page but think this post went strange as most of it is copied and pasted from an old blog post but that doesn't explain the bits that were typed directly - a mystery

  7. It is interesting to compare the dates isn't it? That is one of many advantages of having a blog, the ability to do that. Happy Blog-versary to you! You have a blog to be proud of!

  8. Well I enjoyed it as there were several blogs for the price of one.
I remember when I had a surplus of books I was tempted to drill a hole through most of a tall stack of them and insert a metal tube with wire inside to make a sort of standard lamp for our 'library'! Never got around to it but maybe later this year.....

  10. Interesting to look back at what was happening on this day, with some sadness mixed in there. I'm sure, once you've made your final move, there'll be plenty to blog about. Looking forward to it. Meanwhile, enjoy the rest. xx

  12. I find it really weird going back through my social media/blog posts like that. I don't know about you but when I look at dates and the order of events it I'm always intrigued by how my memory is less good at chronology than I perhaps assumed it was!
