I've read fewer than usual due to traveling about and too much time blogging!
But I've managed to get busy reading since Col got home.
Collected from the library van on Thursday of last week
Lots of good looking reading matter and many are books I've seen mentioned on other blogs. Thank you to all book recommend-ers everywhere.
First read was the one by Alys Clare - The Rufus Spy. The 8th in the Aelf Fen series, a little bit of magic, some crime and history - way back to the 11th century and set in the mysterious Fenlands.
From last month and the month before, three that I hadn't read had to go back as they were requested elsewhere, I've made a note to re-order sometime. I also sent some back unread as just hadn't got on with them and three are still here waiting.
These were the books picked up in December, most were read |
And How Good is this......................................
A comment on the 2017 page asked about the title of a book, I had no idea BUT Kate had.................so message to
Kate has replied saying the book you were thinking of is Gaining Ground by Joan Barfoot. The joy of blogging! Actually it sounds quite an intriguing story.
Thank you for lots of comments yesterday and welcome to more new followers.
Huge Well Done to Kyle Edmund for getting to the semi-finals of the Australian Open tennis. The semis are much further than any one except Andy Murray has reached for years. I sat in the sun(through the window) and listened to him being knocked out on 5live sports extra yesterday morning - disappointing, but he's got many years ahead of him. It was much better than housework!
Back Tomorrow

I agree Kyle will be a force in British tennis in years to come, it's a shame he lost it a bit in the match, but hey the best have all lost their temper before.
ReplyDeleteHe was a bit grumpy teenager mode, hopefully he'll grow out of it!
DeleteBlogland is wonderful for finding answers to obscure questions, and for finding hard to get things. There is always one of us or one of our readers that knows exactly what we are looking for.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't fancy any of your library books this time, but you should have more time to read them now that Col is home with you.
Did you see the Francine Raymond that I picked up in December. I had a quick look through but it had to go back as it was requested. I shall borrow it again to look properly. It was mainly gardening
DeleteI've got it, but not read it yet. I should do before gardening season kicks off properly. It was most likely requested as it is a very recent publication.
DeleteYes, I was pleased that Kyle got so far. Well done to him but I did think he was a little bit ungracious in losing. He has to learn to take things like that in his stride.
ReplyDeleteYes he did moan a bit.
DeleteRelax, get into your world of books, and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI will enjoy them, not sure about the relaxing bit though!
DeleteWe only get 3 weeks to keep a checked out book. I usually have to renew them.
ReplyDeleteYes 3 weeks here if borrowed from a proper library but because the van only comes every four weeks, we get 8 weeks without being overdue
DeleteThe tennis match was shown here at 3 a.m. so I didn't get to watch it. But I did get to see some of the earlier matches - I'm a big fan of Roger Federer.
ReplyDeleteRoger Federer just keeps going and going, amazing player
DeleteAny chance of a list of what 19 books that Col has on the go?
ReplyDeleteI have one cookbook from the library currently. Figuring out recipes for my Instant Pot. Return it next week after I get a good look at all what I'd like to cook. I can find some recipes on the internet for free, via Facebook group I'm in. Not sure if I want to spend $30 for a cookbook and not sure if I'd use all the recipes! I've been reading more already this year which is good for me! Happy week and hopefully Col will be feeling better soon! Happy week!
