And Finally from the Suffolk Show

A Freebie, from The Woodland Trust .........a rather skinny Hornbeam sapling. I put it to soak in the watering can after suffering from being carried around the show in a plastic bag nearly all day. Now it's in a pot with a stake  for a year or more before I can add it to the Birthday Wood

and an extravagance......

I saw this on my first walk through the Rural Craft Tent and decided to go back at the end of the day and have another look to decide if I should splash out. I decided Yes!

A Hare in Cold Cast Bronze Resin by a sculptor, limited edition.

It will always remind me of the photos of the hare I took a few weeks ago.

I enjoyed my day out, the weather was fine all day and not too hot, there were 40,000 people there but I only saw 3 people I knew!

Thank you for all the comments about the Suffolk Show.

I'm having problems with the blog, it keeps saying blogger is an un-secure connection for some reason. I have to fiddle about to get into it and can't always comment on other blogs because of the same problem. All very odd and no idea why.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  2. I hope you can get your blogging problems sorted (offspring under the age of 30 are often the final resort I find!!)

What an adorable hare and I don't blame your indulgence one little bit. Some things are meant to be. It will bring you memories of a pleasant day every time your eyes fall on it.

I am sure that the Hornbeam has perked up beautifully for a drink and will bring you pleasure goo, when it is planted up with your other trees.

  3. I've really enjoyed your trip to the Suffolk show ... you've made it feel as if I visited with you. It brought back memories of the Lincolnshire County Show we always used to go to when I was a child (quite a few years ago!).
I've been quietly reading your blog for a while and really enjoy catching up with you.

  4. I love the hare and I am pleased you decided to treat yourself to it. Sometimes it is the right thing to do at a given point. Like when I went to the Eye Church Art Show last year and treated myself to the jug by the Suffolk sculptor and had to psyche myself up to going alone and turning across the Norwich Ipswich road in a rare gap in traffic! I might even go to the Norfolk Show this year.

    1. I try to avoid turning across the traffic on the A140 too. This means using different roads to access it depending on where I'm going. Luckily there are 5 ways onto it and even more if I go north.
I need to go to Eye Church for my Suffolk Churches posts so will look up the art show. Might see you there!

    2. I can get to Eye without the A140!

    3. Getting there is not too bad, there is a roundabout at Diss to get me on the right side of the road. Coming back out of Eye I have to turn right and cross the traffic! There is generally a long tailback at the Eye junction. I will be away in Lisbon on August Bank Holiday when they have the Art Show. Maybe some other time we could meet.

  8. We used to go all the time when we were little. I remember collecting badges from different displays and putting them on my hat. I did listen to Radio Suffolk who were broadcasting from the show. Made me wish I could have gone!

    1. Children are still rushing round collecting stickers and badges! there's loads more for kids to do now on many of the stands and under 15s are free which means loads of children there.

  9. Love your hare, he looks cheeky. Twelve years ago I had a stroke and while still trying to get my head around it all my hubby took me for a quick drive to a local beauty spot. On the way there I said that I had never seen a hare other than in photos or film. We parked up and just looking around when I saw what I thought was a rabbit and my hubby quickly said "No, it is a hare" I have never forgotten that short ride and I felt so honoured and surprised. So I think your hare is wonderful. Love Andie xxx

  11. May your Hornbeam grow big and handsome. Talking of handsome, the hare is a delight. I have seen more hares in the fields this year than all my other years put together - and there are quite a few of those! I'm glad you treated yourself.

  12. Ohhh the hare!!!! I love hares!

And you said in a comment, on Elaine's blog, that you have Elder superstitions coming, in next post. I love all old lore.

So thank you, ahead of time...

  13. Love the hare, I've got a bit of a 'thing' for hares too after a few years watching them from our Oxfordshire farm house windows. I've not seen any where we are now though.

  15. I really enjoyed your trip to the Suffolk show. Love the hare and all the personality he shows. How nice that you have a new tree for the Birthday Wood. I'm sure it will grow well with your special care. I am so glad you are getting out like this. Sometimes I have to force myself to get out but I'm always glad I did.

  16. I love the Hare, he is a real character. Will you name him? I would, I'm terrible for giving inanimate objects names! If you haven't seen Peter Rabbit yet, it's a must. Very upbeat and funny.

  17. I'm having trouble with Blogger too.. they used to send me emails when a comment needed authorized.. then POOF.. no more! But I'm glad you asked the question as I've now turned my blog into an HTTPS, I hope that helps! Love your hare, I'm glad you bought it.. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. I think that answer in the very first comment will solve the problem. If everyone does it we should all be able to comment without problems and get into the blog properly without having to over-ride the system.

  23. I have enjoyed the last few show posts, we lived in a small country town and the little show was an all day and night outing as we knew every animal owner and every craft exhibitor etc. Of course there was lots of chatting with people you don't see often.
What a lovely gift to yourself... Harey Potter ?

  24. Thank you for the Suffolk show posts - I quite enjoyed them!

  25. Thank you for such a lovely "Day Out" with you at the show. In New Zealand we don't get shows like that any more. When I was a child I showed my pony at the local A&P show, but of course I was too taken up with the pony to really appreciate the rest of the show.

  26. Lovely hare, is it a Julia Hulme one?

    1. Yes, it is a Julia Hulme. I had a card in the bag with the hare with her details but now can't find the card anywhere.

    2. Her work is gorgeous. We bought 'Hare in a winter coat' 11 years ago. Still special, still gets his nose stroked every day. I'm sure you will enjoy your hare very much.
