Thank you to everyone for brilliant comments yesterday. They made me feel much better.
This was the Camellia this week 2021 - photo taken Thursday.
I've continued to pack things into boxes, and wipe down shelves in cupboards as I empty them. All the wall and base unit cupboards in the kitchen are now either empty or just have things on one shelf. Most of the furniture is now labelled with where it's going in the bungalow.
Sort-of good news from Suffolk libraries this week. After being completely shut in this latest lock down.............they've not even allowed reservations since December, they are going back to reserve and collect or request a miscellany to pick up from Monday. It's only sort-of good news because the mobile library won't be re-starting yet so my reserved books that have arrived are still stuck in a crate, although I'll be able to change those books that are still in a waiting list so I can pick up from a library building....if I have time for reading after moving!
An unexpected text message on Thursday told me to go online or ring up for my Covid vaccination. I didn't think they'd finished the 70+ age group yet. But then on the news they said 65+ were going to be asked from Monday. I went online but rather oddly everyday for the next 4 months seemed to be booked up so I tried the phone which just said sorry we are very busy ring back later. Wonder if the text message was sent too soon? I'll try again next week, not bothered, not going far so no rush.
This week I've been grateful for
- Not needing anything while being "snowed in"
- An idea and a book for blogging through Lent
There's still too much drifted snow in the gateway ( we even had another snowfall yesterday) for me to get out this weekend but Brother-in-law is popping over sometime to pick up a couple of old ladders and an old table which he is going to cut up for firewood, so his 4x4 should flatten the snow and then the temperatures are due to rise after Sunday so I'll be able to pop out for some fresh vegetables and fruit next week.
Have a good weekend
Vaccinations for under seventies have started here - I had mine Thursday - so you should get one soon.
ReplyDeleteYep I'm sorted
DeleteI noticed buds on my camellia last week. Spring is nearly here! Hopefully we won't get any snow, we've only had a few light dustings so far, here on the west coast. I fall into the 65+ bracket too, so am eagerly awaiting the call. xx
ReplyDeleteI knocked all the snow off the Camellia today - looks OK underneath
DeleteI'm the same age as you and received a text on Thurs. to book and I'm going this morning..so hopefully that's that until the second one. I won't be doing anything or going anywhere so not too bothered either. I'm sure you'll soon get yours. x.
ReplyDeleteAll sorted now after phoning
DeleteHi Sue, the online booking is quite confusing, when I booked my husband's I to though there were no spaces but it was just the four days after the text was received that were available! Perhaps take another look, it may be only this weekend that is available. Viv
ReplyDeleteThe days for 65 years + were not released until Saturday
DeleteHere in Wales, we got phone calls, rather than booking ourselves in. I had put myself on the reserve list anyway (for any of the local/ish centres - Builth, Bronllys or even Newtown - hoped I didn't get an early appt. THERE though!) and was given one in Builth - so I could almost have walked there had it not been so perishing cold! They seem to be cracking on well with rolling the vaccinations out anyway, which is excellent.
ReplyDeleteWell done on signing the contract for your side of things - hopefully the other solicitors will stop faffing around now.
Hoping you get some new books from the Library system soon, though the random selection that Ilona chose to get seemed very random indeed!
We are meant to be getting snow today before it warms up. Pleased about the warming up bit!
I have so many books of my own to read that I don't really need to use the random selection service - and I'm too fussy anyway!
DeleteI'm just 67 and had my vaccination on Wednesday, all very straight forward, so they are moving quickly. It's given me hope that it won't be too long before I can see my daughter, son in law and granddaughter. I'm sure you'll get yours very soon and hope your move goes smoothly XX,
ReplyDeleteAll sorted now
DeleteI was happily surprised to see a handful of buds on my camellia, having had it brutally pruned last year. Long way from opening though. Vaccinations are moving along here, although I cannot get to the centre as it will be a full day out by bus and foot. There must be many like me without transport to travel miles.
ReplyDelete4 miles away fo me. So need a car. What will you do. Can you get a lift
DeleteNo, I can't have a lift due to lockdown regulations and I am not in a bubble with anyone. I know my GP is doing some, so will have to ask nicely if I can be done there.
DeleteSue, try going on the NHS website. You will need your NHS number. I booked online last Sunday. Had my jab yesterday, all good so far.
ReplyDeleteHow grateful am I for our superb NHS. At the centre yesterday there were lots of volunteers, all doing great work to keep everyone safe and keep the system flowing. Many thanks to all volunteers too. Carole.
NHS numbers not needed here. Its sorted now
DeleteGood news that you will be getting your vaccination soon, if you can manage to book in an appointment.
ReplyDeleteYes the weather is totally different this year to last year isn't it, it came up in my Facebook Memories that last year across from us in Wales was totally flooded, as was our nearest town, with cars floating round the Coop car park, this year sit is bright blue skies and below freezing temperatures.
We've just re-homed our last remaining chicken to the neighbours across the road, to add to their ageing flock, so it is definintely the end of an era for me now.
Weather and everything so different this year. New homes all round then!
DeleteOur surgery is doing our jabs but I also hear about a central place for organising them. Weird on the different options.
ReplyDeleteWe have options of various centres. I shall go to the leisure centre in debenham
DeleteIt sounds as though everything is going well for you at the moment.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the house move, hope it all goes smoothly, and hope you get your vaccination appointment soon.
Vac sorted. Hope i hear more about house move next week
DeleteCould you not get someone to simply shovel or plow you out since the snow is only a foot high? Not snarky just bemused and asking from New England.
ReplyDeleteA foot of snow hete is a lot. No one is set up to deal with it in out of the way places
DeleteWe got letters telling us when to come for our jags - this coming Wednesday. I'm so glad I didn't have to phone for an appointment like I did for our flu jags. It took me 3 days to get through and, from what I heard from neighbours, I was lucky it was "only" 3 days!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the buyers have been told who is holding up their house purchase. Hopefully things will pick up now!
Hope i hear soon about moving. I'm keen to get moving now
DeleteWell done for getting things off it's backside again, Sue! You sound incredibly well organised; I am filled with admiration.
ReplyDeletexx
So many house moves it gets easier each time
DeleteHello Sue,
ReplyDeleteWell, it is certainly a very different situation one year on in more ways than one. But, it is good that you are on the move and immersing yourself in your new home.
What fun it is going to be. New plans, redecoration, rearranging things and, no doubt, the Camellia will love its new sheltered spot. Wishing you all happiness and joy in your new home.
Thank you
DeleteWow, you have had a fair bit of snow...we've had none (so far! Well, a bit of a flurry but it didn't settle at all). My camellia is tiny, but it does have a lot of buds on it.
ReplyDeleteThe snow is still laying here. Quite unusual
DeleteHi Sue - on the Covid vac - persevere - there are appointments, the website is not always working properly. I was sent a text last Sunday - but then of course the centres closed due to weather, but I had mine done on Wednesday, partner had his done yesterday, friend Jenny in Ipswich had hers done last week - I was surprised to get the invite so soon as under 70! Unfortunately, the Mix centre was not functioning efficiently when I went - a full hour late with my jab, and Mike had to wait an hour and forty minutes, it is also cold, even when inside. Just saying ..... pleased to have had it done though! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGot through the website until 'confirm' which it refused to do! so phoned and got an appointment at Debenham Leisure centre - my nearest.
DeleteHope it's not an hour wait there.
It is good to hear that you are at least getting closer to a vaccination. It sounds like you are well prepared for the move. Sending you wishes for smooth sailing with it all!
ReplyDeleteI do find the paperwork side of house moving absolutely stressful and draining - we have had problems in the past - hopefully your stand will get the process moving again - keep warm :) x
ReplyDeleteGood that the plant goes with you.
ReplyDeleteI hope the snow did not cause problems with your plant.
ReplyDeleteGlad to read that you have your vaccination sorted out. We will be waiting awhile longer in Saskatchewan, Canada.
God bless.
It sounds like the wheels are beginning to turn in the right direction with regards to your house move. Thinking of you over here in Australia
