Out of Condition

The sunshine on Sunday morning got me out on my bike to do the 6 mile loop, halfway round I realised it was probably a couple of months since I last cycled it , too late to make it a shorter bike ride.

There wasn't really much to see ......several walkers with and without dogs, 3 cyclists - two in lycra and one normal like me! One lady on her horse and about half a dozen cars. Pre lock down there would have been fewer walkers but otherwise just the same.

I took my camera just in case ........

But only stopped for 3 photos.....one  of the chicken rearing farm not far from home. It's been closed and empty since Covid started, so they must have been raising hens for the catering trade.

The speed recording device that moves about the village....not by itself......obviously. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

My sister and her husband cycle regularly and she told me they just got a milometer for their bikes and cycled 14 miles one day last week.... AND she said if the speed recording thing for their village is set up on the down hill stretch on their way home they can make it register 12mph. - Blimey!

After all the rain we've had the Dove-brook was flowing fast under the Old Mill House down in the village.

Then I walked up the hill and finished cycling home, where I collapsed in a heap for half an hour!.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  1. I would have collapsed as well, well done. Never occurred to me about chicken farms unless they were one of those where the chickens caught bird flu and had to be put down.

    1. I was never really sure what age chickens were raised in the sheds as we never heard or smelled anything, they started to shut down almost as covid started.First thing I noticed was the security lights weren't on at night.

  2. Lovely bike ride - there are steep hills all around us here on the Pennines I would not even attempt a bike ride - it has been hard enough pushing the pram up the hill towards the moors - a hill that we normally walk and don't have a problem with!

    1. Luckily this 6 miles is virtually all flat with just a hill down into the village and then back out again

  3. Well done on the bike ride. I should get a bike out but u do prefer walking so I can listen to an audio book. Someone on face book was having to put hi egg layers down as there are too many eggs as the catering trade is predominantly closed.

    1. I prefer cycling to walking any day but don't like going too far in case I get a puncture!

  4. It sounds lovely to see so few people. During lockdowns walking for us has become really hard as it so crowded everywhere. Well done for the bike ride.

  5. A lovely bike ride and small wonder you flaked out afterwards. It must be interesting to have a stream flowing underneath your home. I wonder if there are problems with damp at all.

  6. Sounds like you had a good ride, I stopped riding my bike when I was in my early 70s few years ago. I was a keen cyclist most of my life and before I was married my husband and I cycled to Suffolk from Heathrow several times were my parents lived. Must admit the roads were better in them days.

  7. Well done! It would have taken me a lot longer than half an hour to recover from a 6 mile bike ride. I don't know when I was last on a bike - and have no desire to get on one any time soon! LOL

  8. At least it's a start and you can only improve as you do it more and more, (weather permitting, of course). Are there any cycle routes you can do when you move?

  11. I don't cycle in winter. I just know it's going to be really painful when we start going out again in a month or two.

It's been quite mild here so far this winter, Scotland and the North of England have had snow over the last few days but not here

  16. The last time I tried cycling...my sister and I decided we still could ride, and got out the grandchildren's bikes. Our first clue should have been needing a stool to get on the seat. We both crashed before we cleared the drive way. That was, let me see, 2010, 2011.

  17. I fell off my bike one of the last times I cycled. Looked up to see a bunch of Girl Guides asking me if I was okay. I pushed the break on both the front and rear of the bike. Ouch.

Great photos of your cycling trip.

    God bless.

  18. It has been over twenty years since I last hopped on a bike, and I don't think I would manage it very well now. As a family, we used to take some lovely rides along the river bank. Keep it up as long as you can :)

  19. I am glad you had a good bicycle ride out and about. I don't have one any more. I have thought about getting one but not for awhile. Glad you rested well as I sit down once in awhile after I go on a walk. I like the mill by the creek. Take care and have a good weekend!

  20. Hello everyone, it really worked and I'm proud to give testimony too.
My husband left me for another girl. I felt very bad but I expected
him to come back to me. One day, I saw a message about how a lady met
her husband and I decided to contact this prophet that helped her
because my relationship was failing. Although I never believed in
spiritual work. I tried reluctantly because I was desperate, but to my
greatest surprise, this prophet (Baba Eko) helped me and my
relationship is perfect now, since Baba Eko helped me, my husband now
treats me like a queen, even when he told me he does not love me
anymore more. . Well, I can not say much, but if you are going through
difficulties in your relationship or any issues at all, here is Baba
    Eko email address: babaekotemple@gmail.com
    Or contact his WhatsApp: +2348158768376
Your partner will definitely come back to you ..
