Saturday 3rd + Book Giveaway Winner

Running out of days to stay at the holiday let and still no definite news of a completion on my purchase. Ho Hum.

It was a wasted journey to The Range on Thursday, hardly any curtains at all and what they did have were nearly all eye-let ones, made  for going on a curtain pole. Isn't it funny how there are  fashions in the way curtains are hung up. I remember something called Tab-Top...........not that I had any, but they don't exist at all now. I'll either have to order something online, wait until other shops open or maybe end up with several nights with no curtains at my bedroom windows, depending if I get in before or after April 12th.
I didn't bother to look around the whole shop so ended up being too early for a KFC.

The names that went in the 'hat' for the Richard Osman book were

I'll be back on Monday if there is something to write about

  1. I've got my curtains here from Dunelm. Good quality and competitively priced. In days of old we went to the one in Carmarthen, but that's not just down the road any more so internet shopping it has to be. Having saved LOTS of really lovely vintage fabrics I'd found down the last 10 years, the windows are ALL too big here for it!

They are certainly taking their time over the paperwork for the bungalow. It must seem never-ending. Hope it all falls into place SOON.

Another warm day yesterday but a cold Northerly wind.

Thank you for putting my name in the draw. My reading is still not very good but I watch Pointless and enjoy Richard Osman.it takes a long time but I am getting there and reading on blogs helps.
The weather does not seem to be good on the weekend, at least it might keep the people away from the beaches.
    Have a good weekend everyone.

  4. Just put a blanket up at the window and get the feel of the new place before you buy curtains. No rush. I hope you can extend your stay at the holiday let if necessary.

  7. Sorry about the delay in your move! Is there another holiday let or hotel you can pop into for the few days you need? Hope it won't be too long! As far as curtains go, you could get a sleepmask to cover your eyes at night until you find what you want!
Lots of worries but you seem to be handling it all very well! Good for you!

  8. Congratulations to potty - enjoy your read. I do hope the house move sorts itself out quickly. Moving is stressful enough without all this delay. Will you be able to extend your holiday let, if necessary? xx

  9. I used to make all my curtains and just put a simple pocket in the top to hang them by. These days over here most of the curtains you buy have those large metal grommets and the rods for those can cost as much as the curtains! I have found the best selection for curtains on Amazon if you are willing to order online. It seems like the shops never have either the style or color I want.

I hope things finish up on your house this week so then you can have next week to move. Crossing my fingers for you! Have a lovely Easter and enjoy the family!

    1. I used to make my curtains too, way back when every town had a shop for buying materials etc and before 3 children!

  10. I'd avoid those eyelet curtains, unless your insulation is top class - they let a lot of warm air out. What a nuisance about the hold up on your new place. One plus though is that you have more time before the curtains are an issue. I hate morning light, so always make my curtains with heavy blackout thermal lining. It also means that they're warmer. I'd better go and start cooking - we now have extra guests for dinner tomorrow night - 8 adults and two children, including the birthday boy. I'm not expecting the children to eat anything - Easter eggs today and party food tomorrow... they'll probably be on a sugar jag for a week!

I hope your settlement date gets sorted very soon.

    1. I took down poles and curtains from my living room that had metal eyelets, because I wanted to keep them, but will need new black-out bedroom curtains

  11. You mentioned tab top curtains which for some reason made me remember vision net curtains from the 1970s our children were all young at the time. We saved up for vision nets thought they were the cats whiskers at that time.
    Would never have them now.

    1. I'd not thought about fashions in curtains until I came to write this - but there obviously must be

  12. Gosh I remember tab top curtains, I never had any as I was a traditional hooks and rails type of girl back in the day. I have a mixture of eyelet and hooks at the moment.

Remember the fashion for shaped net curtains, the ones that gave you an arch of net at the window, yes I had lots of those!!

Dunelm will be your best bet for curtains when they are open again, thank goodness you have managed to find somewhere else for what is hopefully your last week before you move into your own place.

  13. the current fashion for those eye let ones drive me crazy. I hate them with a passion. Violet has some in her room, but that's just because she doesn't mind the look and the fabric was what she was after. This assumption that EVERYONE wants that style is beyond irritating.

Dunelm are pretty good, at least they still have the trad tape on the top for most of them.

Hope you get some positive news regarding the move soon. These things drag on sometimes don't they?
