Village Art Show

I do enjoy an Art show - and admire what others can do. This one is in a village not far from home so I popped along to have a quick look.

A few photos of various pieces in different mediums that I liked and the one I wouldn't have on my wall at any price!

The Art Exhibition was in the school and windows and things on the school walls kept reflecting in the glass which ever way I tried to take the photos.

The first two photos are flowers on silk I think, by Christina Barber. The small ones on the table were £10 each and the 4 displayed were £40 each

This oil on canvas by Bob Hogan below was very large and colourful - and not for sale

Some wildlife photography prints included - gorgeous Barn Owl by Steve Abbot- really bad reflections I'm afraid

And a Little Owl in oils by Peter Leeding for sale for £200

No idea why I particularly like lino cut work because in paintings I prefer originals to prints and lino cut are usually done in 10s or more. These are by Helen Maxfield, whose work I've seen before and sometimes bought greetings cards, but she didn't have any for sale here. Crow and Pied Flycatcher were £75 each and the flowers £70 each.

This pen, ink and watercolour by Linda Seager is another look I like. Could have bought this as it was a very reasonable £20 but I'm saving funds for car diesel!

And the oil on board cabbage painting below is the one I wouldn't let in the house! Apologies To Dorothy Wilkinson. A good representation but............................

Just a short visit and then I crossed the road to see the Flower Festival in the Church.

Which will be tomorrows post

Sue

    1. What a coincidence - just seemed an odd subject but I know it's well painted

  2. I have wandered around smaller art exhibitions and been interested in the variety and skill level of local artists. I am with you with the cabbage - but then I am not keen on oils preferring the lighter styles of work with water colours and inks :)

  3. We have a painting my sister in law did of 4 Brussels sprouts in a row. I actually don't mind it (it was a gift).

  5. I have to say, the cabbage wouldn't have come home with me either! The Linda Seager picture's nice, and the Owls and Tulips really lovely. I never used to like lino cut pictures or scraperboard but in my dotage, they now appeal.

    1. Just after I took the photo of the lino cuts a man came and stuck a red sold dot on the crow. I think I would have wanted to buy both birds if I had enough money. Like my Hare and Owl on my wall - two is better tha one!

  6. I could quite cheerfully give a number of those house room - but, I'm afraid, not the cabbage. I like cabbages as much as anyone but in their rightful place - which is not on my wall. xx

  8. All the artists are talented! I wouldn't be able to create anything like those! Even the cabbage is well done and will find it's perfect place on someone's wall, I hope!

  9. The owls and the tulips are lovely. I don't think I could have resisted the £20 painting with it's restful subject in pretty pastel colours, I love it.

  11. Always enjoy your blog. The owls are especially lovely. We have them around us here. Art exhibitions are to me like garden centres, they lift your spirits

Think my favourite is the ink drawing of houses with watercolour wash.

  22. The last art exhibition I saw was actually upstairs in our Booths supermarket café, they have lots of space there and this year they are using some of it to promote various local things, you never know what you are going to come across when you get up the stairs.
