This flower festival was in a church that I'd tried to visit before but found it locked so it was a good chance to see inside and I'll write a post about that for tomorrow.
The theme was Poems and this first one depicts Tiger,Tiger Burning Bright.................
The Hymn 'Angels Singing' on the Altar
Mary, Mary Quite Contrary
'The Light of Stars' by Longfellow
'A Wise Old Owl Sat in an Oak'
Just a few of the colourful arrangements by people much more talented than me! The church was quite busy with people looking round so I didn't take many photos and some of the arrangements on the hot sunny window sills were looking a bit sad on the second day.
Back Tomorrow

My favourite arrangement was The Light of Stars. Very cleverly thought out. I take it the actual church itself was also pleasing once you got inside.
ReplyDeleteA simple church - tomorrows post
DeleteI love them all but particularly the 'When I am Old' one. It made me chuckle out loud. Brilliant!
ReplyDeletexx
There were so many others that I wasn't able to photograph
DeleteEven in a cool parish church, it must be hard to maintain the freshness of the flowers in this hot weather. I liked the Angel Voices on the altar
ReplyDeleteRight against windows in full sun had wilted lots of the lovely arrangements
DeleteGood morning, love this article and the accompanying photographs, thank you. (Regarding on older post of yours about local cheeses, which I devoured as cheese is my favourite food, on a recent visit to Usk I bought some Baron Bigod and goodness was it delicious, so thank you for your report. Sadly it cannot be found back home in South Derbyshire but the search is on!! Jan in Castle Gresley
ReplyDeleteI must find another local cheese to try
DeleteI love this poem ! It is a worthy piece of advice !
ReplyDeleteMaguy
A well known poem now but still good
DeleteWhat a wonderful idea for a garden show! And I will indeed start wearing my version of purple..
ReplyDeleteI've not got anything purple...yet!
DeleteI love the when I am old poem! I hate purple and hats, but I subscribe to not worrying about other people's unsolicited opinions, and I'm old already!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a hat fan either - they make me hot and look silly on me - I won't be wearing one however old I get!
DeletePurple is my favourite colour, but I'm afraid the poem wore thin when we sold it in a shop where I worked. Besides, I don't need encouragement to grow old disgracefully! LoL.
ReplyDeleteI Don't think I have ever owned anything purple
DeleteThey are all gorgeous and creative. I like the altar design best, so cool.
ReplyDeleteSome clever people about
DeleteHow nice that sort of event is for the community, I love the tiger arrangement.
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
Some gorgeous arrangements there, I love the 'Warning' one, now that made me smile.
ReplyDeleteI loved all the arrangements and the poetry theme is brilliant. The creativity of some individuals is really impressive. Poetry and flowers mixes very well. Each vignette was original and delightful.
ReplyDeleteLovely, Sue. Thanks for sharing these with everyone. --Elise
