Yesterday I remembered to look at the comments page and had to free about a dozen proper comments and delete many more rubbish ones. Then I decided to look at the Stats page where I'd not visited for months.
This was the page views at the time I looked................. Good Heavens............Is that Millions???
And below were the blog posts that people had looked at in the last few hours. Very Random!
(and I've no idea why the page looks so strange when it doesn't in drafts)
Wonder how many people will look at this poor excuse for a blog post!?

I rarely look at my stats either. You are certainly popular!
ReplyDeleteI reckon the strangest thing is how many old posts get looked at.
DeleteMine have gone utterly crazy too. It happened once about 6 years ago, and was blamed on Russian spyware.
ReplyDeleteI remember that - when it spiked suddenly - very odd
DeleteYes, that's millions. Well done! xx
ReplyDeleteMore pages read than a best seller writer!!
DeleteWow, you are probably on the same level as many famous commentators. Spikes are frightening, basically because the people who do it remain hidden. It is a joke in my family that I have an Eastern European on my Google account, because of a translation of a foreign word.
ReplyDeleteThat's a curious thing. - I didn't look at where readers are - not even sure that's still shown but probably is somewhere
DeleteFor some reason Chinese (bots) find my blog interesting. They seem to like old posts, the same ones over and over again
ReplyDeleteThat's even stranger!
DeleteYou are obviously very popular!
ReplyDeleteIt's my wonderful way with words.............NOT!
DeleteI use your blog list on your side bar.
ReplyDeleteSo that's the reason you look at my blog!!
DeleteLol
DeleteInteresting. I don't look at my stats often, either.
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting to let loose the comments that keep going to spam - poor memory.
DeleteImpressive stats Sue and I am not surprised. Your blog is interesting, down to earth and kind without being sickly sweet (if that makes sense).
ReplyDeleteAs a long time blog reader I have been impressed how you have handled what life has thrown at you.
Even if some of the number are due to bots, or people who use your blog to find others, there is still an impressive number of hits from people who read your blog - as evidenced by the number of comments you get.
I'm just glad I don't get as many comments as John Gray - would never have time for anything else!
DeleteI have never looked at my stats (not even sure what they are and certainly don't know how to find them.) But I switch on to you every day Sue in any case - I can't get enough of that lovely Ceanothus in your header picture.
ReplyDeleteI first saw that lovely shrub in Ireland and had to look it up only to find the common name is "California Lilac". I don't think it is hardy enough to grow in Michigan, but then we have the common lilac here that grow everywhere perfuming the air in May.
DeleteIn the garden the ground under the Ceanothus is blue with all the flowers falling. Time to find another header photo for June I think
DeleteStats are fine to check on. Sometimes it's bots skewing the numbers. Last month mine say I got half a million views! I doubt it!
ReplyDeleteArtificial Intelligence might take us all over
DeleteJust read a crime novel with an AI side kick…In the blink of an Eye - is in the Suffolk library. You might like it
DeleteNot really anything to do with stats but I have a definite blog reading routine, for what seems like always now I start off with your blog then use your sidebar to click through to other blogs I enjoy, I don't usually comment if I have to sign in, just laziness really........and I do enjoy it when a blogger takes to the time to reply but totally accept that it's not always practical!
ReplyDeleteOccasionally, I miss reading all the blogs I like because I run out of time - I usually do blog reading while I eat my lunch ( OH watches the telly) So, this all sounds a bit nerdy or at least quirky - I suppose we're all creatures of habit!!

I have a dilemma sometimes - Should I comment on other blogs? Reply to comments on mine? or prepare blog posts for the future?
DeleteIt's great to look at the stats every now and then isn't it. I had a look at the stats of my old blog the other day, and my goodness what a shock, the numbers are amazing, and yes, like yours they are in the high millions and there are people reading through it as though it were a book. And actually there are a few people reading way back on my current blog, they have a couple of years of catch up to do.
ReplyDeleteI check my Comments page every day now as there are virtually always some comments in there, some of them are my answers to people that were previously published. At the moment Joy is being picked on and I have to keep rescuing her comments and publishing them.
Your numbers are impressive overall. You must have readers worldwide. I must say, your blog content and writing is always enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI look at my stats perhaps once every four months and can never really understand them.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
