First Saturday of the Month

Sorry to keep going on about the weather here but I want to shout very LOUDLY to the weather Gods - please can we have less of the NE wind and some of the sun and warmth that you have given to everywhere other than us in East Anglia. Lack of sun is making the greenhouse tomatoes very lanky and making me very cranky!

Managed to find a few roses not attacked by green/white fly to bring in for my flowers on the table this week.

Two new people came to the Keep Moving Group this week which is good - the more people we get, the less we will need to pay to cover costs, so I hope they come again next week. 12 of us going regularly and hardly anyone misses a session and we all think it's very beneficial.

Then there was the Suffolk Show. It's a massive show and I love it, but it was really cold there and of course ever so busy. More children than ever I reckon - children get in for free and there's plenty to see that doesn't cost any extra. So if you take your own food the only cost is adult entry as long as you're not tempted to buy all the nice things in the clothing and gardening shopping avenues.
I'll sort out the photos I took ready to post on Monday.

The only other things I did during the week were going to the mobile library and shopping.

Hopefully I shall get to car boot sales this weekend, not sure if anything else is happening. But there's plenty of weeding to do.

Have a good weekend. I'll be back Monday
Sue

  2. My sympathies over the weather. On the odd day when it's been cloudier, and the wind has sprung up, it's been COLD - I guessed the wind had Easterly origins - N-E hitting you first confirms it.

I'm glad you enjoyed Suffolk Show. I used to go to Romsey Show every September when I was in Hampshire. It was held in Broadlands (Lord Louis Mountbatten's estate) and had a lovely atmosphere.

    1. It wasn't even sheltered sitting in the grandstands at the Suffolk Show. And the forecast is for continuing NE winds for another week at least

  3. Our roses are just starting to flower but the leaves have black spot. I try to pull off the infected ones but the branches are looking bare now.

  6. We ‘re having very dry weather with temperatures of up to 22C here in central Scotland and I’m getting my steps in each evening using the watering can to save my new perennials. Catriona

  8. I'm as fed up of the bright, sunny days as you are of the chilly, windy ones. The sun is affecting my eyes and I'm having difficulty reading peoples posts, especially the ones with white or pale backgrounds.

    1. Oh No. That doesn't sound very good at all.
I guess I never get enough sun to be fed up with it - just love it

  10. We have had plenty sunshine here in Tayside but those North easterly winds are making it feel like winter. One consolation is that the washing has been line dried for the last couple of weeks. Have a happy weekend . Fiona

    1. Yes getting the washing dry is one benefit - it only needs a few hours in this wind

  11. After a cold windy May, June has come in to Central NJ with record breaking heat yesterday -- 90's f. Too hot for me to go out, don't do well in heat. Today all the way back down to the 70s f. I'm wondering how my seedlings will handle it.

    1. So very different to here, perhaps the warmth will move across the pond to us eventually

  12. It's beautifully warm here today, Alan is making the most of it and sunbathing on the patio. But that cold breeze has been awful up to now hasn't it, although it does seem to dry washing well.

I have to really be strict with myself at shows, especially those with a Country Living tent ... oh the beautiful things they sell at exorbitant prices!!

  13. Can't complain about the glorious weather here in Wales but can well imagine that when it breaks we'll get wind and rain and anything over 6 inches high in the garden will get battered to bits!

  15. Wind chill is not supposed to be happening in June. The weather Gods need to take note. Today, Massachusetts is 50 degrees F with clouds and showers. Earlier in the week it was 80-90 degrees F. The temperature swings are ongoing. The Suffolk Show sounds terrific. I will look forward to hearing more about it.

    1. On the weather chart the temperature says 19 C which is 66F - then underneath is the wind chill so it feels like 12 C - 55F - not very warm at all

  16. The weather here in Illinois has been TOO HOT! and no rain at all! So I am not liking it. I am hoping it will cool off a bit and the rains will come. I have to water twice a day sometimes! Ugh!

  18. I hope you get warmer weather soon. We are in the high 70 degree F today and 80s this week. Hope to have some rain as we haven't had any lately. My daughter waters our plants outside. I might do it this evening as she is visiting friends who have a new baby boy. She took food to them as well. The baby was born a few weeks early but he seems to be ok now.
My daughter bought items that I needed yesterday when she went to Fred Meyer. I allowed her to use my debit card. I am thankful for her help recently.
