Usually £12.99........................

 ..................found for £1.

I'm talking about Lakeland heavy duty oven gloves. I've bought new from Lakeland in the past - although back then they were about £6 - because they last for ages and are really good at heat protection.

These found at a recent boot sale are hardly used - a handy bargain. Also picked up this brand new Dinosaur playdough set for £1.50 right ready for the next time the 3 year old dinosaur expert visits.

  1. Those oven gloves are great. They are the ones I always buy.
And I stand in awe at the dinosaur knowledge of 3 year olds. X

  4. It's so hard to find a good pair of oven gloves, so you did well to find that bargain on ones you know work.

  5. A bargain indeed. Who would have thought that when Lakeland Plastics first advertised in magazines using just one page that hey would go on to having catalogues and shops in most towns and cities. From their advertising in a magazine I bought six plastic picnic plates which had three indents for different foodstuffs with one of them to hold a drink. We used them regularly when my daughter was a toddler and I still have them now. ..

    1. I can remember when they only traded from a stand at County Shows - the queue used to be huge to buy from them.
Since they shut the Ipswich shop I've only bought very occasionally by post

  7. I used to love thumbing through the Lakeland catalogue, they certainly used to represent good quality but I haven't bought from them since we moved away from a place where they had a store. Those oven gloves look very practical - I dislike the ones with foam in, they don't bend easily!

    1. Can't remember when I last had a catalogue from them - perhaps I didn't change my address last time I moved

  8. Prices are still climbing so finding a bargain is a bit of a gift. You are lucky to find the best buys.

  9. Proper oven gloves!! Mine are very nice to look at but using them is like trying to lift pots out of the oven between two paperback books, there's virtually no bendability. I keep thinking they will get better with age, but two years later and they are still the same.

  10. I bought oven gloves at Tuesday Morning store last year and I really like them. Much better than regular ones. I got one for my daughter in law as well. It's usually cheaper there. I need to see if that store is open anymore. Last time I was close to it, no more store sign. 😕

  11. Nice finds. I found some new-with-tags oven gloves while I was decluttering today ha ha. Won't have to buy new ones - as long as I remember where I put them!
