2 library van visits this month as the van comes every four weeks. These are the books I collected yesterday.
Just seven this time. The two by Molly Clavering were books I asked them to purchase and they did. The huge book by Dorothy Hartley might just get looked at rather than read and the same for The Rhythms of Nature. Hamnet was mentioned on a blog.
So just one crime book this time - very unusual.
Last month I brought home this big heap and have read most - three still here to be read. I've written about a couple of these and all those read so far are on the separate Books Read 2023 page.
Back Tomorrow
Sue
How fun to have visits from the library book van. You got some goodies, and nice they purchased the 2 Clavering books you requested.
ReplyDeleteI reserve books I want to read online and then pick them up from the mobile library - but for people without internet the mobile is very important
DeleteI am still slowly reading (and enjoying) the Andrew Taylor series set around the time of the Great Fire of London. I've not read a proper crime novel for about a year as a friend keeps sending me books she's bought/read and I must say I miss the genre, but at the moment I'm back to historical novels. When you just read a few pages at bedtime, and the downstairs book is picked up in an idle moment (not many of them right now, as the garden calls), progress is slow.
ReplyDeleteYou have a good selection, as always.
I tried the first Andrew Taylor but didn't finish it for some reason. I ought to try again sometime
DeleteThe Dorothy Hartley book is good if only for its illustrations. The problem with Audible listening, is finding different authors to listen to. Susan Hill is my author of the month at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of people like her crime but I couldn't get into them at all
DeleteI will be interested to see what you think of Hamnet. All my book reading friends loved it, but I did not like it at all..
ReplyDeleteI've picked it up to start and found the way it's written is really odd - not sure I will get very far
DeleteI’ll be interested to read your comments on Hamnet. Happy reading! Catriona
ReplyDeleteSee my reply above - think it might be a fail!
DeleteThought it might. I’ve tried twice but never finished it.
DeleteI have recently read Hamnet and thoroughly enjoyed every page. A little sad in places but a real page turner. Jane
ReplyDeleteNot sure I'm going to read it after trying a few pages
DeleteI'm heading to my library today to pick up a book I have on hold - Author: Matt Haig; Title: How to stop time. It was recommended on another blog I read so I thought I would give it a try... I will also check out the Anne Perry books - I might start at the beginning again as I always enjoyed her series and don't remember all of the details anymore! :)
ReplyDeleteThere's certainly plenty of Anne Perry books to read - should keep you busy for quite a while!
DeleteLooks like a good stash there - happy reading

A drastic crime shortage is worrying!
DeleteYour library service is truly outstanding. Your request prompted 2 book purchases. That would never happen (quickly or at all) here.
ReplyDeleteThey are very good at getting in books - Love Suffolk Libraries!
DeleteHamnet is excellent. I recently read and enjoyed the White Lady. Parts of it sounded familiar. I imagine Winspear was relying on her knowledge from writing Maisie Dobbs series in that time period.
ReplyDeleteI learned about the Maisie Dobbs series from one of your photos. Thanks! I enjoyed it very much.
ReplyDeleteBonnie in Minneapolis
Lots of great reading material there.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Love your book posts. I'll have to look them up though I am on a book purge right now!
ReplyDeleteI've just started some of the DSP books. I want to read "The White Lady," too.
