September Library Book Photo

A lovely collection of books that I'd reserved were on the mobile library for me this week.

The new Robert Harris which is sure to be good, also here is the only one of the dozens of Donna Leon's books that I've not read. The book by Rob Rinder is his second and I enjoyed the first so this should be equally readable. I've previously read Lara Maiklems other book about mudlarking on the Thames. Hope this new one is good too.

The other two above are 'looking at' books rather than reading but I'm interested to see what recipes Hugh FW comes up with.

Below is the latest Lissa Evans book, her previous novels have all been very good and another BLCC crime story reprinted from 1932.

Below are four books with Autumn in their titles for my Reading The Seasons challenge, apart from the Agatha Christie I'm not sure about these. I read some of Leslie Cookman's books in the past and stopped as they are all more or less the same and very silly. The other two might be OK - I shall see.

Should keep me out of mischief now the painting is finished.

Back Tomorrow

  1. I wonder how many books you've read?

    1. I could count them all up in my 'Book of Books read' which I've been writing in since 1970s but it would take me hours!
I can tell you that since 2010 I have had 2,081 books issued to me from the library. They've not all been read!

  2. I should love to go mudlarking on the Thames, but you need a licence (and an expert to guide you) so it's not cheap. Maybe one day...

  3. Lucky you to be reading the Lissa Evans book so soon after publication. I loved her earlier books. Hoping to have this as a Christmas present. I am dropping heavy hints.

  7. Apparently Hugh WF is on a channel called Zoe, scientific approach to food is the main theme. He does seem to have disappeared from the screen.

  9. I’m still trying to find something of interest for ‘Spring’. The library holds are taking an age - I’m thinking there’s more than me reading the season (reverse of yours😊)

    1. Hope you find something. I just looked back to see how many I read and it was just 7 with Spring in the title - so not very many for 3 months of reading

  10. I used to love watching River Cottage, any HFW is good imho.
I always find it slightly strange when authors change their name and you see
' writing as ' on the cover.......

    1. I flicked through the recipes quickly but didn't see anything that jumped out at me. And all for 4 people too - sometimes complicated for 1 person

  12. The books look interesting and should keep you busy for a couple weeks. Having the painting done gives you time for other interests.
I am watching a lovely program titled: "The National Trust Gardens" and it is very enjoyable. Much better than any news!

    1. I only see local news on TV now and avoid the national news.
NT gardens are always beautiful and well cared for

  14. Could you tell us the author of "Autumn Leaves", please, as in your third photo. I'm on a similar search for "seasonal" titles for my reading group, and there are many books called Autumn Leaves. Thanks.
