Still Painting................

Lots more painting done over the weekend and yesterday.

Very cross with myself as I forgot to do Wordle last Saturday, hence ending a streak of over 60 correct -in reality I'm not really bothered - don't take it that seriously.

Of course it was the painting that made me forget  Wordle as I did the second coat on two walls, it's not perfect but will do.
Saturday afternoon Son + the two grandchildren popped round to take some oxygenating pond weed and water snails from my sink pond - they were so excited to see frogs in my pond a couple of weeks ago that Son decided to sort out a mini pond for them. He knew a friend had an old sink and quickly got it sunk into their garden - I hope they will get frogs too very soon.

Sunday morning I sanded and cleaned up the third wall then went to visit Youngest Daughter and the EGD. I took them out for a pub meal and had a very unusual but delicious Chicken, Mushroom and Pancetta Lasagne. When I got home I sanded down wall # 4. That was enough for the day.

Yesterday I got first coat on walls # 3 and 4. I can see the end of the job thank goodness - although not today - other stuff to do.

Back Soon

  1. I'm hoping to have a bathroom make over soon and am pondering {see what I did there?} whether or not the bath would make a larger water feature in the garden. Criminal to send it to land fill and I'd love to encourage frogs, toads, and dragonflies in. Just needs a bigger hole, right?

    1. Need a big ol' hole for a bath but it would be better than a sink - deeper for critters for winter

  2. You might like to try Septle too, it's a 7, 6 and 5-letter word (the 5-letter is the same as Wordle) and there is only one a day.
    Keeep painting! x

    1. I'd fail with 7 letters, 6 might be OK but now I'm used to 5, might be hard to try more - I'll have a look

  5. Gosh Sue, you're so good, we decided last year we'd give up painting ourselves! Well done you!

    1. I wasn't look forward to it but it's going OK - better than having someone do it and in the house for days

  6. I've discovered that as soon as I put the paint roller to the wall, the room magically gets bigger. I can tell you are nearing the home stretch, nice to have that view and enjoy your new room!

  8. The paint job will give longer lasting satisfaction than completing that Wordle. I've never got the hang of Wordle though I'm a dab-hand with a Sudoku - even if I says so meself.

    1. I do Sudoku too but get cross with some of puzzle books as they vary from too easy to too hard.

  9. I've done that a couple of times with Wordle, the first time was really annoying, now I'm not too bothered.

We've both decided that we will never be painting for ourselves again, what with Alan's bad shoulder and hands, and my back it's time to leave it to the professionals ... even if Alan does always have a moan at the quality of their work afterwards.

You could always donate a couple of your frogs, if you have enough to spare.

  10. Your painting is progressing nicely. I've done some painting on walls and the minor defects in my skill can be seen, but you have to really look for them. At the end of the day, I am probably the only one that sees them. I think the same will be for you!
Your son and his children will enjoy their new pond. The frogs will come when they see the water and plants.

  11. Painting is in my very near future. Last year I painted my living room and left the hallway to be done later due to the holidays coming. Well, “later” has come…At least it’s a much smaller job.
Your painting job may be a big one with so many rooms it will feel so nice when it’s done! That’s my favorite part after I paint. Everything is cleaned and put away, furniture moved in and then I can sit and admire the work, and bask in the accomplishment.

  12. Wow, you are really motoring with that painting. It would have taken me much longer to do what you have achieved so far.
Hopefully your son and family will soon have frogs visiting them. I think it would be awesome to have frogs in your garden. We used to see them on the farm, back in the day, but they have become very rare now.

  13. I'm sure the walls look great - we always see our own imperfections, don't we, but in a few months you just won;t notice them any more.

  14. I'd love to see a pic of the pond's current growth. The family may not get frogs til next spring? Tho if it stays hot and dry, maybe they will come for autumn drinks and food.
I get a Wordle streak going and then miss a day, gets discouraging---they should only stop the streaks when a person actually loses a game. I also got annoyed [mainly w myself], w a bunch of words all same except last choice and too many options [paste, haste, waste, caste].
Are the walls anew special and lovely color or clean fresh white?
