Very Early Present

I've bought my Christmas Present from my BiL!  He doesn't know yet.

I've not had a Country Wisdom and Folklore Diary from Talking Trees Books for a few years as they changed the binding so it wouldn't lay flat, but they've now added a gate fold bookmark to the front cover and changed the binding again so hopefully it will stay open where I want it.

BiL now has to think of  what he would like from me. We'll swap money later!

  1. Will it be an engagement diary to write in what is to come, or a journal diary to record what has been? Either way, it looks lovely

  2. It is a good idea to specify presents, saves such a lot of politeness when you get something you dislike.

    1. This is about the 8th year I've bought something myself but from him !

  3. It's a pleasing step up or forward from simply buying it for yourself. I wonder what your brother-in-law will choose?

    1. He always buys whatever he needs anyway so difficult to buy for

  4. I have to say, it's always good to get exactly what you want as a gift even though you have chosen it yourself. Think of all those "Smellies" we have politely received down the years . . . thinking in our cases, we'd rather have had a book token to spend!

  6. Well, if he reads your blog, he knows now! So much better than receiving clothes that don't fit or smellies that create allergies!

    1. I think only Son and DiL look at the blog . BiL certainly doesn't. He looked once and saw it was about books and never looked again!

    1. I've resisted the temptation to look inside but if it's the same as a few years ago it has lots of folklore bits and bobs to read - and use on the blog

  8. Perfect gift! Selecting and making the purchase yourself ensures perfection. I love your system. I also shop for myself and buy myself gifts. The diary is lovely...I just bought one for myself.

  9. Beautiful book and book publisher. I love their Yule cards and advent calendars. Shipping to US is not too bad, I ll come have a look again when I have time. [I esp like how the days have moon and sun/ rise and set, as I am always hunting this down online. But perhaps is inaccurate for where I live?

  11. That looks like a very nice diary. I used to keep one every year until 2020 when covid meant no entries!
