The author wrote this book in 2021
Did he know something we didn't?
This was a new-to-me-author and the book was on my shelves although I can't remember who mentioned the author or where I found the book - it wasn't new so must have been from a charity shop. The story was excellent and it means I've found a new series to read as this is the fourth out of six so far about Washington Poe who works for the National Crime Agency - with socially awkward but brilliant civilian analyst, computer whizz and profiler Tilly Bradshaw.
This story reaches back to soldiers serving in Afghanistan, involves stolen historical artefacts and all happens while preparations are going on for putting in place security at a International summit being held at a Cumbrian Hotel.
Back Soon
Spot on. At least Trump doesn't want to buy the UK - I guess we don't have all those rare minerals that you can hold the world to ransom with.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the JD Kirk ones yet? I am nearly at the end of his 25 or so books. A great series.
Yep, I did try J D Kirk - the first one - but it was a bit gruesome - don't mind watching them on TV but don't like reading - which is odd - but then I am!
DeleteI don't know this author - but books by people who win the Crime writers association Gold Dagger have usually proved worth reading in my experience. So I will check this one out.
ReplyDeleteNice to find a new author that I didn't know about who has several books to catch up on
DeleteI read this book last year and enjoyed it. I've read a few of the Washing Poe books, sometimes they can be a bit gruesome but I love the friendship of Poe and Tilly:)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you posted about it and I saw the author. I enjoyed it and will try others
DeleteDefinitely a bit of correct forward thinking going on with that author.
ReplyDeleteHe must have had a crystal ball!
DeleteThis sounds like an author to investigate.
ReplyDeleteHe's written this series and another I discovered on Fantastic Fiction
DeleteThis one sounds like one I'd like. I do love a good series!
ReplyDeleteLove finding a new author
DeleteMy library has 2 books by him but not that series. It's nice to find a series that you like because then it can keep you reading for awhile. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'll reserve some others from the library now
DeleteThe author predicted the sad reality seen today.
ReplyDeleteThe turmoil caused by tariffs will impact the world economy.
What can we expect next?
It's certainly not conducive to calm in the financial world
DeleteI have found that the best way to deal with news reports that begin with the words "President Trump has..." is simply to yell "Whatever!" at the tv. Childish, but very very satisfying.
ReplyDeleteGood plan!
DeleteIt’s always a great feeling to stumble upon a new-to-you author and realize you’ve uncovered a fantastic series. Washington Poe and Tilly Bradshaw sound like a compelling duo—the mix of crime, history, and high-stakes security makes for an intriguing read. Stories that tie in real-world events can sometimes feel eerily prescient, adding another layer of intrigue.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I’ve just shared a new post—you might enjoy it: www.melodyjacob.com. Hope you find something thought-provoking there.
Sorry fashion blogs are way out of my lifestyle!
DeleteVery forward thinking of the author. I read something a few days ago that all the orange menace wants is people to bend to his will, and if the world leaders were smart they would not do so. All he wants is power..... The power to say he has made the world bow to his bidding.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I heard that he wants the Nobel Peace Prize for stopping wars - he'll need to try harder for that one
DeleteI looked up the series, says there are seven books. I ordered a sample but the first book sounds very gruesome, so maybe not good for me. All the reviews said "dark" "twisty". There are also interviews w the author on You Tube where he discusses his characters etc, if that sort of thing interests you.
ReplyDeleteNot too gruesome and no children involved which is what I dislike reading about
DeleteWhat a very perceptive quote! xx
ReplyDeleteI read it and though "oh, thats weird"
DeleteWow what an interesting quote!
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly a bit strange living here in these times. I just don't understand some people.
