The best way to describe the way the rivers of Alde and Ore flow to the sea are by looking at the Wikipedia page HERE
Small boats anchored in the harbour
Fishermen's huts
Below is a display from the castle about the story of the 'wild man of Orford' caught by fishermen in the 1100's.
Remembered in the shop, smokehouse and cafe at the harbour

This looks like a really beautiful area, in addition to the castle. I love the bunny illustration, too!
ReplyDeleteA lovely part of the coast- very popular with visitors
DeleteThe poor "wild man"! I wonder why they had to torture him. Just goes to show that crazy stories aren't a new "internet" thing. People will believe anything, I guess. I like that view of the sea!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been a strange place to live with all the mists hanging over the sea and marshes
DeleteIt looks as though we have all been blessed with these beautiful blue skies, doesn't it lift the spirits to have a few lovely days like these. Gorgeous photos.
ReplyDeleteI was talking to someone this morning who cheerfully said we'll get snow at Easter! Hope they were wrong. We've been stuck with a cold east wind but the sun is lovely
DeleteWhat a strange story - and the depiction of him as a merman, as the story says he was hung by his feet!
ReplyDeleteA 1,000 year old mystery!
DeleteWhat an interesting story. Why on earth would they torture him after feeding him is beyond my comprehension.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Fear of the unknown maybe . 1,000 year ago was a different world
DeleteIt looks so lovely. Is there quite a walk that way? Sister and I are always looking for some different places to walk.
