Thank you for all the 'Happy Birthday' wishes yesterday. I had some lovely cards and all different.
The new farm shop/café not far from home was having a card making craft morning on my birthday so I booked myself in for my birthday treat.
I've really given up on cardmaking but it was better than housework on a birthday!
The craft was stamping, there were just three other ladies, two had done lots of crafting with the tutor before at various places.
I've had a go at stamping before for cardmaking but always got frustrated because you really need lots of different stamps and coloured inks etc which I could never afford.
These are what we made
Luckily she didn't try and sell us any 'Stamping Up' Products for which I was grateful.

Belated birthday wishes. It was my birthday last
ReplyDeleteweek. I’m enjoying my life in my seventies and I feel sure that you will too. I think that the answer is keeping fit and you can only do that by walking and lifting. (Carrying logs) It’s a bore having a log burner sometimes but it is better than going to the gym. I have to carry my logs up nine steps.
I enjoy your blog and look at it every day. Please keep up the good work!

Belated Happy Birthday. Good for you giving yourself a treat. I have always had an Outing on my birthday. When I worked, I took a day's holiday to do something special. It's only once a year, after all. I am still deciding on where to go to have my birthday treat (though I had two lovely days with the family here last week).
ReplyDeleteBelated birthday wishes x those cards are delightful and the recipient will be a lucky one. I’m glad she never did the hard sell either!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty cards. Yes, setting up for doing crafts of any sort can be quite expensive. I was watching an online live yesterday. And they were selling the basic kits which had "everything" in it for about £20 until you got to the end when she said Oh, and of course, you'll need to provide your own ink pads. Well, there goes another £20 or £30. Mind you don't have to buy full sized ink pads. You can always go for some of the mini ones. Not quite as expensive to try out the craft.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards and a nice thing to do on your birthday. Catriona
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice birthday treat to yourself and an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
ReplyDeleteBelatedly Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI have been to classes with stamping up, very good. However, whenever I had a go at home I always seemed to get ink everywhere so cards were ruined. I gave up stamping! Enjoy your birthday meal out with your lovely family. Carole R.
Just heard my first cuckoo of the year.
ReplyDeleteAnd belated Happy Birthday
Good news re the cuckoo
DeleteStampin Up is what I use to make cards. The people who sell it are having to constantly add new supplies. They can't demonstrate with stamps, paper or ink that are no longer in the catalog.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a nice way to spend some time on your birthday, and the cards you made look really nice, so you will be making someone else's birthday just as happy.
ReplyDeleteUsing stamps and ink, you made some lovely cards.
ReplyDeleteA class of three people sounds ideal.
I have to say, you also create excellent cards working with materials you collect for card making.
Yes... to happy B-day celebrations. The family gathering and meal for your special day sounds spectacular.
That was a fun way to spend your birthday morning and good that you came away with some nice cards you'd made without having to buy lots of stamps. That's what puts me off card making, it seems cheaper to buy good value cards rather than buy lots of card making equipment.

Those came out great! Glad you did something you enjoyed on your birthday, Sue!
ReplyDeleteWhen I started card making I was given some magazines with free stamps in them, of course then I had to buy ink but just stuck to one - black, I colour them in with either water colour pencils or felt pens - but agree, any craft hobby can be expensive to set up. Glad you enjoyed your special day.

That’s a lovely thing to do for your birthday! I would’ve enjoyed that! I love rubber stamping but the quality stamps can be quite pricey. I hope that you enjoyed your day. 😁
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for comments - it made a different morning out which is always good
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a fun birthday activity -- and I really love the cards you made. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday for yesterday, and wishes for a happy and healthy year ahead... which is a safe wish for anyone our age, isn't it! Your stamping session sounded fun, and stress free. I've been to courses that were ruined by the 'hard sell' tactics of the tutor, so I'm pleased your wasn't like that. I've a friend who makes cards out of scraps of light papers which she dribbles dyes over, distresses and then uses for texture rubbing. Then she cuts them out and sticks them on the front of a card, and uses a gold or silver highlighter pen to write her greeting. Costs her next to nothing in resources. I tell myself I ought to try it, but haven't got around to it... too many "oughts" in my life!
ReplyDeleteAnyway Happy Birthday!!
Lovely cards and I am glad that you had such a lovely activity rather than doing housework.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Those are really lovely. Definitely a better way to spend the morning than housework!
ReplyDeleteA belated happy birthday to you! I have a few flower stamps which I got years ago and haven't had the time to use. Now I am thinking I need to get to it!
ReplyDeleteI sold stamps and bits under a party plan arrangement when I was looking for a way to earn some money when the children were tiny. I had a great time, but as you say the stamps were too expensive and I didn't like being pushy so it wasn't a good source of income!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are so pretty, such a good idea for a birthday treat.
Belated Birthday Wishes, Sue! Xx
