Imogen Joins the Flock

I wrote about rescuing the second bamboo duck back in 2017 HERE he's been keeping Merlin (who came from the Tewkesbury Abbey shop way, way back in the early 2,000's) company ever since. Then from the boxes where I found the kitchen bits on yesterdays post I also spotted Imogen.

She's very happy to have company and Merlin and Arthur are happy to have a little lady join them.

Imogen was a bargain duck at 50p but living on the windowsill at the front of the house with the road not far away they really are 'dust collectors'!

I looked up  dcuk  (Duck Company UK) who are still going but the ducks are made overseas now and often painted and wearing wellie boots . I prefer these older original ones - just simply bamboo.

Thank you to everyone for comments yesterday - I shall keep doing my early morning walks with a purpose because a 50p find is always a treat!

  4. I have five of the original DUCKs as we often bought the slightly damaged ones going cheep in work {groan}. I like to group mine decorated with seasonally appropriate neck bows made from recycled quilting fabric or sheets. I had thought to give them an appropriate varnish finish and display them outdoors too.

  5. Imogen is lovely and a very good addition to your flock, and at 50p a true bargain, they are pretty expensive from gift shops aren't they. I have always had a 'thing' for wooden ornaments, bowls and boxes, but I try and rein it in these days.

    1. My big wish would be an old fashioned wooden bible box for my huge family bible - although I'd have nowhere to put it!

  6. They are so pretty they can be forgiven for being dust collectors. This said, I've just spent two hours housecleaning and maybe I shouldn't be so friendly to dust collectors myself !

    1. I really hope I don't find anymore to rescue! - but if I do I probably will!

I'm not a fan of the painted ducks or other birds and ducks in boots is odd

    1. They don't take a lot of dusting - if and when I notice how bad they've got!

    1. I discovered there are two collective nouns for on water and on land but a waddle sounds good

  14. Love a duck.
When we introduced a new runner duck to the older two, they greeted her with cheerful quacks and head bobbing, and then led her, last in a line, around the garden to the food, the water, the steps to the pond, and into the duck house.
    Delightful ducks.

    1. We never kept ducks on the smallholding - they are rather messy . My three here are much cleaner!

  17. I am glad you found the other duck and they all look good together. Bambo wood looks good and better than the new ones. Continue to enjoy that adorable duck group!!!

  19. How cool! I would love to have real ducks, but that won't happen. I have been looking for something like yours for ages. You are so lucky to have that little flock.
