Me and the Poppet

Forgive me but I couldn't resist sharing

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, people sitting and people eating

Col took this the other day when we were in Leiston looking after Florence for a hour or so. She's a right little poser, loves having her photo taken but the lovely thing was when we arrived she pointed at me (she does a lot of pointing!) and said "Nanna".
Who knew having grandchildren would be so much fun!

What is Not fun is that they've put Col's date to go in for the donor stem cell  transplant back by a week -  early December now rather than the end of this month - and we have to go to Addenbrookes to have Lung Function test which he's already had in Ipswich. Grrrrrr! He'll almost definitely be stuck in Addenbrookes for Christmas.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

I'm sorry they've changed Col's date, and I'm very sorry he'll be in hospital over Christmas. that's just rotten.

    1. There was a chance that he would be home for Christmas if he'd gone in this month but never mind it has to be done

  3. Cheeky and smiley - how lovely that she called you by name straight away.

Frustrating news about Col's date, and having to go for another Lung Function test. Why? Doesn't one hospital trust another?

    1. It's all to do with time, just a pity about the travelling further, but has to be done

  4. Just seems a waste of time, obviously don’t trust the results or else want new ones nearer the time.

    1. Yes they want new tests done as the other results were 2 months ago. Pity they can't be done at Ipswich but now he is under the care of Addenbrookes the funding is more complicated. We might have to go back again if they want a repeat of the kidney function tests!

  7. He seems well when I read the blog. I don't understand about the need for the medical treatment.

    1. Yes a lot of people dont understand this type of Cancer. I shall explain.........
Colin has Mantle Cell Non Hodgkin Lymphoma a particular nasty sort of Cancer of the blood.Treatable but NOT curable. He has already had 2 types of treatment which have not worked including a stem cell transplant using his own cleaned stem cells. He was in hospital for 7 weeks last summer. He is now taking some amazing tablets that have only been trialed for short time that suppress the Lymphoma. They will stop working after a while - in the next few months - hence the need for all the risks of a donor stem cell transplant, which IF it works will give him a few more years of life. If the transplant doesn't work the only options are palliative care until he dies!
I hope that explains the need for treatment soon

  8. Home is where the heart is...and your celebrations can be when you're together...hard I know, but block out the world and advertising...there is a belief that hundreds of years ago that feasts were movable to when the weather was right and people were able to come together. I realise that with a son up past the midlands with a lovely girlfriend sometime in the future we won't all be together on the actual day...but I'm determined that we will all be together on another day. x

  9. Wretched news about the hospital, though I suppose you could put it down to being careful. Lovely photo of your grand daughter and you ;)

  10. Isn't she gorgeous with that beaming smile and those cheeky eyes? Grandchildren are so precious; I just wish they didn't grow up as quickly! I miss my babies. So sorry to hear that Col's hospital date has been deferred making extra tests necessary; everything crossed that there will be no more hitches and all will go well with his transfusion. 15. What a cutie!! I think, from what you have written, that Col is feeling good at the moment. So savour everyone of these days before he goes in the hospital as I think you have said that this treatment will be hard on him.

  16. Fingers crossed for you both. Glad you have family around. Beautiful grandchild. A special moment when one gets called Nanna. In my case its Grandma who is seen more often on a computer screen!
