On a Cold and Frosty Morning

Why is it that I see lovely frosty photos on blogs but when I creep out before sunrise  in the hardest frost so far (Saturday) my photo's just look dull and boring!
(Don't answer that!)
I've not cleared the old growth  from the quarter circle flower garden because leaving the job until spring gives cover for small creatures and helps to keeps the soil a tad warmer for the birds to scratch through. (That's my excuse anyway)

It stayed cold all day and the only thing I did outside was to go and fetch logs and kindling from the woodshed to fill up the baskets indoors and put in the garage for the rest of the week.

Thank you for all the comments on  car boot buys. I shall get withdrawal symptoms now until they start again in February.

  4. You captured the mood of the weather...it was before the sun had any strength...this gives it the stillness look I believe...! x

  5. I like the first picture in particular. We had the same: frost and frozen hose pipes yesterday.

  7. Your pictures look just fine to me, not boring at all. I particularly like the top one.

We are helping our grand-daughter with a school project about wildlife. We have been given a cherry tree sapling to plant by the school and she has to take photos and measurements etc at various stages. There is a corner of our garden that she has taken over and has built mounds of leaves for insects and helped her grandad put fat balls and seeds in feeders for the birds.

  8. Yesterday was wet and horrible along the south coast, today blue skies and sunshine, not been out yet but I will wrap up warm.

  9. We haven't got any real cold or frost down here in the south yet but they assure us its coming.
Like you I like to leave things untouched in my little garden to give the creatures somewhere to hide. The garden looks like a tip but it doesn't matter, or am I slightly eccentric, lol

  10. Your photos look fine to me 😊

This time last year I had some gloriously frosty photos on my blog, looking out of the windows today it's just a icy cold quagmire ... in no way photogenic.

    1. We've been very dry here, the ditch opposite the house has been dry since about May.
It's even still dry enough to walk the footpath across the farmers field.
(Now I've said that we'll probably get rain for days!)

  12. Not dull and boring at all, Sue, this is what the countryside looks like at this time of the year; it's not always glowing sunrises as I know only too well, living by the coast. But your photos show just how cold the morning was, so in that respect they are accurate!

  15. Frosts here are a rarity indeed, Sue, as is that cold that keeps one indoors all day. Love your photos, that certain kind of light and quiet in them. Meg:)
