Cousins

Cousins  altogether.

While eldest and SIL and Jacob were staying here for a few days they met up with son, DIL and Willow plus youngest and Florence at the beach.

Eldest took photos for me (I stayed at home resting, been running on adrenaline for about 3 weeks and it's catching up on me and Jacob is like the cat........they both like to make sure everyone is up early!)

at Thorpness Mere they saw swans and geese  and son in law snapped this one of me and Jacob at home in the garden, I was cutting a few roses to bring indoors and found Jacob  a red strawberry from the plants in the cold-frame. He is very interested in everything and talks non-stop in proper sentences. I've completely lost track of what age children develop and do different things but as he was only 2 last week I think he is jolly clever!

They'll all be back again in a weeks time  for the funeral.

Back Tomorrow

  1. Lovely pictures Sue of lovely grandchildren. More memories made. The time before the funeral is the worst, I think - so much to do that you feel like you're constantly on edge, but in limbo at the same time.

  2. Lovely photos of your lovely family. As Sooze says the limbo period leading up to the funeral is awful. You take care and rest up when you need to. By the way your grandson is clever to speak constantly and in sentences.

  3. SO glad you are being looked after and cared for. There will be crashes, it's normal, and this is such a difficult time before the closure that comes with the funeral (I gather).
I hope you were able to have a good rest. xxx

  4. I love it when cousins come together, my youngest daughter always stayed with my mum when her cousin came to visit. These days when our Somerset boys come down, we always ensure a family get together, so all the cousins know each other.

  6. So nice that you've got your family around you Sue. Such a lovely photo of you and Jacob and yes he sounds a jolly clever chap and will go on to do amazing things. Glad you got the opportunity to catch a moment to recharge the batteries.

  9. Children are a great help aren't they Sue. Next week will be hard but things will then begin slowly to improve I am sure. Keep going. x

  10. Good that you are having family around and that you are taking care of yourself...even if things feel a little surreal at the moment.

Hope the cousins have a chance to spend time together regularly. Two of my grandchildren (boy 4 and girl 3) are really best friends. Their faces light up when they see each other or find out they are going to be able to play together. One of the loveliest photos I have is of them at a garden festival walking towards a hill--my grandson took my granddaughter's hand without any prompting, just to help her up the hill. I wish those same kind of memories for you.

  11. Great to see them all growing up so fast, I love Florence's yoga pose on the beach!
Our grandson will be two towards the end of August and he could talk the hind legs off a donkey! He's with us three days a week because of his parents working, today is one of those days, and we've spent most of the morning 'trotting' up and down the garden, with him singing 'Horsey Horsey Don't You Stop' at the top of his lungs! He was also astride a hobby horse, but mine was just imaginary!
It's a difficult time for you at the moment, everything leading up to one event, so rest whenever you get the chance. Take care of yourself!

  12. Such beautiful photos Sue.
I don't remember Ruby being such a chatterbox at two but Marlowe certainly is....it's hilarious some of the things she comes out with.

    Take care of yourself.

  13. They are such lovely photos, especially of the children. Moments to treasure indeed. I've been very behind with blog reading due to my hubby being ill but I've just caught up with your blog, Sue. I'm still thinking of you. Look after yourself and enjoy the family time x

  14. What lovely photos of your family. You were so sensible to stay and rest when you had to, and I am really impressed that at 2 years old Jacob is saying proper sentences and is well understood. My youngest was lazy with his speech and relied on his older brother doing all the talking.

  15. Surely one of the great joys of childhood, being given the choicest pickings to nibble on! Offer my grandson tomatoes, peas or mangetout on his dinner plate and he won't touch them, offer the same things in the garden and he can't get enough of them. I hope that little rest did you some good.

  16. What a lovely family you have! I'm glad you're getting to spend some time with them. Children have a way of cheering you up even if it is only briefly.

  23. I'm glad you are letting yourself rest when you need to. Grief does knock you at the unexpected moment, and is so tiring. Time with the family - and especially grandchildren is healing, but they are tiring too. Speaking coherently at 2 is early, but has many advantages - most notably (in our case anyway) a lack of temper tantrums through not being understood!

Take each day it comes, and try to find one moment that is good to be thankful for...

    Thinking of you

  25. Lovely family photos. Jacob sounds to have been given lots of attention and has brilliant language skills as a result. Clever lad.

I'm glad you were able to rest up - I hope everything doesn't hit you at once. Grief affects us all in totally different ways - I didn't cry when my best friend Trish died - and I feel awful over that, but I have only to think of my dad, who died nearly 40 years ago now, for my eyes to fill up with tears.
