Finding (More) Things for the Grandchildren

(Another post that's been sat in drafts for  nearly 8 weeks.)

My list of things to look for for myself at car boot sales is very short, but somehow there are always things to find for the grandchildren. Welly boots can be passed between them as they grow, just as we did with our children - we had a whole box of boots, usually from Jumble sales, just waiting for feet to be the right size.

Toys and summer clothes for Willow, books for Florence........Her mummy and daddy said they still feel a bit self conscience with books that have to be sung so I keep finding more just to tease them! "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and lots of Teddy Bears  doing "If You're Happy and you Know It".

Anyone spotted what's hiding in the middle?
Afraid its another jug...... and it says 'England' on the bottom rather than 'Made in England' I think that makes it older.......someone will know.
I also got a pot of parsley seedlings for 50p - twice mine failed  to germinate ( Now the parsley is big enough to use) plus some petunias for the Shabby Chic Ladder. (  Now, Weeks later they are looking very colourful)
Total spend £10.70

Can't say Petunia without remembering that Public Information ad that used to be on  about the coastguards...........

  1. I think you are right about the England thing, I am sure I remember hearing that too.

  2. Love the sing along books, I would be sneaky as well, kiddies love to sing.

  3. You know parsley has to go down to the devil twice before it comes up? So my Aunty Win used to say! It’s notoriously difficult to germinate, try soaking the seeds in hot water before sowing.

    1. Yes I've heard that saying too and tried hot water - twice - but still nothing!

  4. That ad brings back memories Sue. Do you remember the 'learn to swim young man' one with Dave who couldn't swim and Mike who swims like a fish. The adverts used to be better than the programmes. These days I watch an ad and have no idea what they're trying to sell. xx

  5. You do need a pile of wellies. Children's feet seem to hop through sizes faster than a rabbit (eating its way) through a garden.

  6. Good job on the car boot haul.. but but.. I would like to see a better photo of the pretty pitcher! I am somewhat obsessed with pitchers. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  7. Your finds are good. We always used to have piles of wellies which came from older cousins, went to our two then to younger cousins. I don't think we ever bought a new pair but living in the country with a huge garden they were vital.

  8. Some good finds there, especially the little jug. I have a thing about jugs (esp. if old!) That looks pretty.

Gosh, that Petunia clip has taken me back a few years. I can remember watching that at home . . .

  9. I loved that advert. Along with the 'have a crocodile smile' one for looking after your teeth! x

  11. I agree, a close up of the pitcher please. When my son was 12 and his sister 14 they had the same size feet so I only bought one pair of gym shoes, they had gym on different days. All was good until they were in basketball tournaments on the same day at different schools. I spent the day driving the shoes between the schools. A story they like to tell about the trials of having an unconventional mother.
