Throwing My Money Around at a Car-Boot Sale............

...................Again!

Yes,  I went on another boot-sale spree, this was  a couple of weeks ago before the Surrey part of the family came for the funeral.

3 new shower scrunchy things -I'm sure they have a proper name, were 20p each. Book and cars for grandchildren ( mainly Jacob this time as he was coming to stay) £4.50
2 packets of Lettuce seeds - my favourite sort including one lot for winter growing 50p each. Best bargain was a HUGE bundle of peel-off labels for card making, I gave up counting them when I got to 40! There must be over 100. These were £5 for the lot.

Blimey, big spend day of £11.10p!

I put all the cars in a row on the coffee table, ready for Jacob arriving and you should have seen his eyes light up when he came in and saw them! Very excited car-mad 2 year old!

Sorted through the peel off labels and put them in my concertina file with the rest. I really have no excuse for not making more cards...... a job for the winter.

I see I have lost two followers, bother, I was hoping to get to the 400+ that I had on the old blog by the end of the year. Numbers going backwards is no help at all 😏 !

Thank you to everyone for comments about the little church, I really must do some more visits to churches that are featured in my book while the weather is good. Can't say I fancy poking about churches in the middle of winter, they are never the warmest of places.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  1. Lucky Jacob!
I like the car boot sales in the UK very much, nearly everywhere you can find them throughout the Spring and Summer. We are not used to that in The Netherlands, though the number is increasing:-)

May I use your blog to ask you and your readers something?
As a Dutch woman I'd like to ride a bike, my husband and I also like the UK very much. We have been renting cottages for many many years, but never brought our bikes with us.
Can anyone tell us what are the best (and safest) areas to ride a bike? (I am definitely not going to ride on motorways as I saw many brave others do, brrrrrr.)
Our next UK-holiday will be with our own caravan so we can go wherever we want to, depending on the cycle paths.

Thank you all for your replies and kind regards from a cloudy and not so warm Holland, though a heat wave is due. It's always one or the other.

    1. There are many signposted cycle routes on small quieter back roads. You would be able to find out about ones in the areas you visit from a Tourist Information Office.
I found this for you for our area www.gps-routes.co.uk/routes/home.nsf/county-cycling/Suffolk

    2. There is a whole cycling network - hopefully this link will help (and work!)

      https://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-cycle-network

We also like disused railway lines as they are traffic free and pretty flat. Depending on how robust your bikes are, you could also try canalside cycling.

  2. A brilliant spend and lucky, lucky Jacob. Will they be kept as 'nan's toys' or will he take them home with him?
I'm sure you'll make up those two followers quickly. I'd love to have as many as you, I really would. This is a lovely blog and deserves to be popular.

  3. My grandson was also car mad as a little 'un. He was beside himself when a tractor went directly past my house! He also loved to play with my Russian dolls, they would often end up in a battle with his toy soldiers! Happy days!

  7. Hi Sue - I haven'nt been commenting for a while - severe lack of time really and I have had to do quick reads from time to time to keep up. Just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about Colin - you must miss him so very much but I am glad that you have been able to continue blogging.
I have had technical issues on my own blog recently and have had to start another - 'where the journey takes me 2' I am not sure if this affects whether or not I show in your followers or whether I might be one of the ones that has dropped off your list? You still appear in my wordpress reader so I think that I am still a follower. I am not sure if you update to the new blog in your blog roll if this has any effect.
A nice little shopping spree though I really need to come shopping with you one day to search out a few car boot bargains!

  8. Very good, that's £11.10 well spent. Those stickers are not cheap in all the craft shops.

One of my boys was always car mad ... and still is. He is now a driver/mechanic after driving tank transporters in the army for a number of years. The other was always mad on any sport with balls, and collecting all toys and games with balls included ... and he is now a football referee. So you could be shaping your grand children's futures with your car boot purchases ;-)

  9. Fabulous bargains....especially the peel off stickers. When I bought them for Ruby's Christmas present to go with all of her other crafting stuff they were 99p a sheet.

  11. I wish I could have seen Jacob's face when he saw the cars! When my two boys were little they were like that about cars and on the younger one's third birthday he received a set of little cars. He was so excited when he opened the gift his little hand was shaking! I'm late to blogs today but I hope you've had a good day Sue.

  12. Really good finds. I haven't been to a boot sale for ages. The ones around here tend to be rubbish.
