Fancy Dress

I'm in awe of Ang at Tracing Rainbows who can whip up a child's fancy dress costume in the time it takes me to say Abracadabra!
There is no chance I'd be able to do that so when I saw some new fancy dress costumes at the car boot sale selling for £2 each I bought a couple for the future.

There's a princess and a genie for 3-5 year olds and originally in B&M for £8.99.  Just need to look out for a magic lamp!
Should save a panic when Florence gets invited to a fancy dress birthday party which seems bound to happen sometime in the next couple of years.

Thank you to Marksgran for offering some dies, that would be lovely - just to find out if it works. I looked for some at the car boot sale but no luck and haven't been anywhere else over the weekend. I'll put my email address after your comment on the post.

I had thought about taking my unwanted stuff from the cupboard-under-the-stairs to the first boot sale of the season at Stonham Barns but the forecast changed so decided against, glad I did as Sunday dawned foggy cold and damp and then went on to be very wet - much needed rain for the garden - and very cold.

Back Tomorrow

    1. I think I will look out for more dressing up stuff for the future. We always had a box full of bits and pieces when the children were small

  3. Glad you got the rain you needed for the garden. We had a lovely sunny weekend and when we were busy selling at the Botanic Gardens Fair, a bit of me was wishing I could be back home making the most of the sunshine and digging and weeding!

Well done with your car boot finds anyway. I can sew but couldn't knock up a fancy dress costume without much botheration!

    1. Being stuck inside when the sun is shining is one of my reasons for stopping the charity shop through the summer!

  5. We have fog here this morning and still cold. I was so glad to make a couple of cards and did lots of crochet. Now it has just poured of rain thing it's going to be a lazy day and my Daughter is coming round at sometime. The dressing up clothes will be useful.
    Enjoy your day.

    1. Sunshine here now after fog, but I fear this may be the only sun we see this week

  6. I used to love making fancy dress for the kids when they were young. I actually won first place once with a 'knight in armour' suit for my youngest son. I made it all from thin card and sprayed it silver, I must drag the photo out and put it on the blog.

  11. I am useless at sewing, and admire those who can do it well. Do you celebrate Halloween there with children dressing up and going door to door for candy? Seems like it might be an American way of celebrating. Costumes are usually reasonable after the holiday of course.
