Late Autumn Colour

There are still a few yellow roses in bud and some white cyclamen in the oval rose garden but in the quarter circle garden round the back are the last flowering plants of the year.

Some pink Chrysanthemums

Thanks for comments on posts. It's very strange that the print is small on my blog for Joan. It is 'normal' in the list of type size. These are the sizes    smallest, small, normal, large, largest!!!

If I did it all in large it would seem very big for me to read. Also odd that some people couldn't see the first picture on the bonfire blog. Thanks to Mary for saying the topics on my blog are interesting. Sorry you can't find the right ingredients for Delia's recipes. I'm wondering what you don't have available?
How many readers find this size better? - Let me know.

My ride-on mower went off for a service/clean/mend yesterday so I hope the weather doesn't turn warm to make the grass start growing again, it was very chilly when I was outside talking to the bloke who collected it. He was telling me which relatives used to live in various houses and cottages around me....interesting info, now all the houses are owned by incomers.....although me and next-door-but-one haven't come from far away. He timed things just right because 10 minutes later the wind suddenly got stronger, the house went dark and the rain came down in torrents. I'm so glad I don't have to worry about flooding here - it must be heart breaking to know that every rain storm could leave your house ruined. Living here there are no rivers for miles and I think I must be on the top of a watershed.

Back Tomorrow

  1. Lovely flowers, Sue. The normal font size looks fine to me. Yes, heartbreaking indeed for those affected by flood, threatened or happened. And on the other side of the world, bushfires.

  2. I expect you already know this but it came as news to me when I did a horticulture course that chrysanthemums need a certain number of hours of darkness to make them come into flower and even passing traffic can stop them.

    1. No I didn't know, that's fascinating. I suppose street lights would have a big effect too.
No street lights or cars here! I think some trees coming into leaf in spring are effected by daylight and others by temperature.

  3. I like the larger font size but can cope with the smaller. There are a couple of blogs which I no longer read as the font size is small and the paragraphs long.

    1. Have you tried altering the font size on your own computer, if you go into your settings you can magnify the size of the writing on your screen.

  4. So much depends on the device you are using, and your knowledge of how to operate it. On my tablet I can just "zoom in" by stretching the text with my fingers, on my desktop machine I click on "view" and increase the size there. I'm quite happy with your regular size.

  5. My eyesight's definitely getting worse with age! I prefer the larger size but it's no problem to make the 'normal' bigger on my laptop or phone. I've got a couple of roses still in bloom too, and it looks like our lawn could do with another cut....husband keeps thinking he's done the last one and then it grows again.

  6. the change was so sudden in weather yesterday. When raking up leaves it had been cold and sunny, then it was suddenly the complete opposite.

Font size is fine for me either way.

  7. I like the normal size. It is easy to change font size on a laptop so probably Joan just needs to go to settings and check it is still set on 100% and not 75%, or less. It was sunny and bright yesterday and then all of a sudden it went dark and rained for about 3 hours!

  8. On my iPad all the fonts appear the same. My heart goes out to all those people affected by the floods.

  9. Just hold down the control key and press + to make things bigger and - to put them back again, or to use the jargon Ctrl+ and Ctrl-

    1. Thank you.
This is the best answer to font size for anyone on a computer of any sort with a 'ctrl' (control) key

    2. Yes that could be the best and easiest way to read blogs with small print.

  10. Incomers was a new word for me - I had to look it up! I have never heard of anyone here being called that. I love the way language is so different around the world.
We too have been having spells of heavy rain some days, but it is warm and not cold and when the sun shines it can be almost too hot at times.

  11. We still have the odd flower here and there but no doubt the frost will soon see them off. As for the settings on the blog, I tend to leave well alone as when I try to improve things always go wrong, wish I was more techy.

  12. Thank you for looking into this Sue and to others for their advice. The large size is the best for me and was the normal print before, all of a sudden, it changed. I can't understand it as all other blogs I go on are still the same and I don't fiddle around with settings etc as I am not computer savvy. I shall still read your blog even though it's a bit of a strain at the moment.

The flowers we have were inherited from the previous owners and have all died back although the outside strawberries are still producing fruit, which I think we'll leave for the birds. Their need is greater than ours at this time of year.

    1. Sometimes settings seem to inexplicably change themselves Joan, either by us accidentally doihg something, or otherwise. On mine computer I click on the three dots at the very top right, or for you it may be a settings spanner looking thing, and then drop down and click on Zoom and make sure it is on 100%, or make it even bigger if it helps.

    2. Thank you Rachel for your help and I do have three dots at the top, but as I don't know the first thing about computers, apart from going on blogs, I don't like to mess about with things in case I make it worse. As I said it's only Sue's blog that has changed, so I'll carry on squinting to read it.

    3. I feel a bit silly now, as my husband has just shown me how to rectify it. It wasn't the three dots, but the page to the left of that. I should have asked him sooner, but as it was just Sue's blog where the print had got smaller I didn't think it was my computer.

I do apologise, particularly to Sue and thank you to everyone who tried to help me with my problem. No more squinting!

  13. I use large font on my blog and find it easier to read. But I just use ctrl+ to make it bigger if fonts are too small for me. So many people being affected by floods and fires around the world at the moment :( xx

  14. Normal font size. I couldn't get one of your photos the other day.

  15. For your blog I always increase the view size to read the words easier and see the pics. I like the larger font.

  16. If I have trouble reading a blog I just enlarge the size. No need to bother the blogger with things that can be easily changed on my end.

    God bless.

  17. Hello Sue and Readers,
I like the larger font. I am in the US and enjoy reading your post and comments on my phone, with my first cuppa of the day while still in bed.
So the larger font works for me.
    Have a good day everyone.

  18. You are lucky, that you can make the Blogger Font Sizes work!!!! I can't change them, in a post. They always seem to come out, "Normal." -smile-

I like normal or large. As you can see, by my blog, I do prefer larger size. But.... How every bit of our blog, is seen, by each of our Dear Readers, is an unknown. -sigh- That's why I often ask, how you-the-reader, seeees my blog???

We live at the highest point, in our city. For which I am glad. Water runs down, from here.

  21. I prefer the larger font but I can change it myself when reading your blog.

  22. I've been having trouble when writing blog posts, the sizes are literally altering themselves in front of my eyes, the only way I've found to get round it is to make everything 'large' … then usually it is normal when I do a preview to see how it looks. The more I mess about the worse it gets :-(
