A Breath of Fresh Air

The Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket has opened it's grounds for "exercise". Each day between noon and 2pm anyone can go and wander round and say hello to the ducks, turkeys, donkeys, Suffolk Punch horse, large black pig and the sheep.

DiL asked if I'd like to join her and the two youngest Grandchildren for an hours walk. It was about 10 degrees warmer in town than at home......... I must live in one of the breeziest places in Mid Suffolk.

Youngest Grandson was most excited by the ducks as his first word is "Duck", we're not sure why!

The museum has several buildings that have been moved there from elsewhere in Suffolk including this windmill which is a water pump.

A really bad photo of the donkeys on the hill.

And my Bubble grandchildren. Youngest Granddaughter decided she didn't want her photo taken and hid behind the pushchair. She was in a bit of a grump after the turkey gobbled loudly and made her jump.

We had an hour in the sunshine, a change of scenery and it blew away the cobwebs. I think the grandchildren will want to go back with daddy at the weekend.

(And just in case anyone says we were going against the rules of lock-down, DiL was also picking up books from the library and I popped into Asda for the things I forgot in the Co-op!, so "yah boo sucks to you!!" and I've just looked this up and wiki says it's a "childish expression of derision or scorn!)

  1. I'm glad you got to spend some time with your grands and DIL. And, no, I don't think you were breaking the rules. It won't be too long before we can say "Rules, what rules?" 🤞 xx

    1. I wasn't bothered about breaking rules or not but thought I'd get my bit in before any trolling and moaners!

  2. Lovely to see you could go out especially on a nice sunny day. I got to do a little in the garden. A very heavy frost this morning but the sun is shining.

  3. we have a support bubble with daughter and grandsons, youngest is registered disabled, people look at us when we are out, no problems at home our nicer neighbours know, so seeing daughters car on the drive a couple times each week is normal for us. BUT seeing the boys and our daughter is such a lift.

    1. It's a jot to spend time with my two youngest grandchildren, hope I'll get to see the others before too long

  4. My similarly singleton Bubble friend got an email from her car insurer warning of driving with anyone NOT in her Bubble as being illegal and therefore invalidating the Insurance.

  5. You live alone and have a single bubble, and you were going shopping, so I agree, yah boo sucks! Lovely to have a wander round the Museum of East Anglian Life - bet it felt wonderful to be out and you can pretend everything is normal for half an hour.

    1. The Museum must be losing so much money being closed, I hope everyone who goes for free will go again later to their events

  6. Our bubble is our daughter and her family. We still look after the youngest grand-daughter twice a week and sometimes the eldest too. At ten years old the eldest has schoolwork to do and knows to be quiet and occupy herself while her Mum works from home.

    1. Working at home as well as childcare and home schooling must be like juggling on a knife edge - think I would have had a nervous breakdown!

  7. Expressions of derision and scorn are needed at this time - I think we are all thoroughly fed up with things now.

    1. I could just imagine some "cheerful" commenter saying I shouldn't have been so far from home for a walk, so thought I'd get my tuppence-worth in first! and derision and scorn would be just right for now

  8. I bet you felt invigorated after that, fresh air, companionship AND shopping.

It's a shame we have to justify everything though isn't it, but it seems the trolls and nit-pickers are out in force these days :-(

  9. Such beautiful grandchildren, of course, and what a lovely hour in the sunshine with your bubble. A glint of hope on the horizon.
