What a Week

Before I get onto "What a Week", thanks for all the comment yesterday and suggestions.
I've already been to Australia and New Zealand with Miss Fishers Mysteries, Brokenwood and Dr Blake as they've been on terrestial TV here for ages so I've seen them . I'm saving Inspector Montalbano in Sicily for later as there are so many of them. Haven't heard of  Zen and Single Handed and had forgotten about The Killing.
Lots of good ideas for later so thank you everyone

Anyway as I was saying.........What a weird, stressful week................ and I won't go on about it anymore!
(Except to say that Thursday I had the Equity Release hitch explained to me by the Estate Agent for the bungalow and now I understand what's going on and the reasons for the delay....she knew more than the solicitors, and the delay might not be as long as I feared)

On Tuesday  I pootled over to Debenham Leisure Centre for my Covid Vaccination. It was well organised  with volunteers everywhere pointing people in the right direction. Just a few minutes wait outside and then sitting in a cubicle inside and then 15 minutes afterwards to make sure there were no sudden side effects.  And there have been no side effects at all - no arm aches or fever or chills which some poor people have suffered. My 2nd vaccination is already booked for May 1st. Brother in Law Andrew who is 4 years younger than me had a surprise call to go the next day and he hasn't had problems so far either.

Other than the above I've not really done much this week - saw my two bubble grandchildren when DiL popped over with them for a change of scene and yesterday I delivered the wheelchair that we'd borrowed for Colin 4 years ago  back to his sister and husband. They are still shielding and thankful that this Brother in law has also had his first jab.

My task for the weekend will be to sort out what things to take with me for 4 weeks in a holiday home which includes unpacking a couple of boxes and a box of books......must have books. The forecast for today and tomorrow is for a couple of warmer days...... although it's so windy it's difficult to know if the temperature is really any higher. There's still snow in the ditches in some places.

Then next week I need to start phoning to cancel things for moving out - that will be fun - I don't think.

 This week I'm grateful for
  • Eventually understanding the reasons for the house purchase delay
  • Finding somewhere local to stay while I wait
  • Good TV to take my mind off the above

 Have a good weekend

Back Monday
Sue

  1. We had our jabs yesterday, I'm fine but Paul is feeling a bit achy. Very well organised procedure.

  4. Good to hear that your jab went well and that the moving delay may not be as protracted as feared. I'm 2 years older than you but still waiting for the vaccination call. I could travel 30 miles to a hub but as I have a lot of allergies (I carry 2 epipens - apparently 1 isn't enough!) I don't want to drive for so long after I've had the jab!

    Have a good week,

  6. I'm glad your move is still going ahead, even though it's going to be delayed. Hopefully, the delay won't be too long. My hubby and I got the call for our 1st jab on Valentine's day, very romantic! I'm 66 and he's 64, neither of us has any (serious) health issues so we were a bit surprised, but delighted. We both felt very fatigued and a bit headachey the next day, otherwise fine. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a bit brighter every day. xx

    1. I'm glad you also had no problems, some people have but many haven't

  7. That sounds much more promising. You must be relieved.
The weather can be unpredictable during February. I remember a beautiful balmy day two years ago when we went paddling in the lake. X

  8. We had our first jag on Wednesday and didn't have any repurcussions either. Hopefully the 4 weeks in the holiday home will pass quickly. Will you have internet there?

  9. I'm glad that your house move is a bit more positive and sorted out. We had our jabs at the end of January and apart from my arm aching a little no side effects either. The next one will be on Grand-daughter's 4th birthday, so will have to tear ourselves away from the fun to get the jab. We're all hoping that this year she can have a proper Birthday party unlike last year.

  11. Glad to read that it will all work out for you. We get out vaccines on Tuesday next week. So anxious to be able to travel again once both done though we'll still be masked, and distanced. First trip will be to see our other daughter and family.

  12. Although you're going through a very stressful time it's nice to hear you sounding so positive about things. A good attitude is half the battle, there are so many on blogs moaning about day to day life, things really could be a lot worse!!

Packing for four weeks in a holiday home will be fun, yes a couple more books than you think you will need and a good capsule wardrobe ... oh and take your favourite mug.

I found I could do most of my change of address and final reading etc online to save on phone calls. It was much easier than expected. Although it might be a bit more complicated when I have to do it all again in a few weeks with the Post Office having to do a double re-direction!!

    1. I picked up 2 mail re-direction forms ready for move 1 and move 2. Good idea about the mug as I like a nice big one!!

  13. Take a hot water bottle, just in case the weather changes again. And treat yourself to a nice tin of biscuits. We had a 4 week hiatus between moves in September 1981, and a couple from church kindly let us live with them. Only problem was sharing the one loo/bathroom. She and I realised we were both rushing in first thing each day to throw up. In May 1982 her Chris was born the week before my Liz. At least you haven't got that to add to your hassles!

    1. Great Minds think alike as I'd already packed a hot water bottle, just in case the holiday home hasn't been used much over winter and might be chilly

  14. It sounds like things are looking up a bit and I'm glad you got your first vaccination. Yes, do take along some "treat" things and try to think of the stay as a bit of a holiday, since you are paying for it and doing a lot to prep up for it with the packing! A few treats, for sure and things to remind you of home and cozy. It does sound much better and I'm glad.

    1. The holiday home is in a village with a Chinese Takeaway so that might be a proper treat!

  15. I'm glad to hear you got your first vaccine shot! Good that you have had no ill effects too. It sounds as if you have the changes in your move all worked out. I know it is not what you wanted and it must add to the costs, but before you know it you will be looking back on it all in the past. Sometimes we are tested like this and I think we all know what a strong person you are in these situations! Enjoy your weekend Sue!

    God bless.

    1. ? A recommendation I presume? I don't have netflix so will have to wait. I tried to read the fiction book that this film is based on and failed. Being in Suffolk all my life we've all grown up knowing about Sutton Hoo and doing projects on it at primary school
