Collected from the library van yesterday, these are all books I'd reserved. Only 8 in total and two of these are just 'looking at' books - one cookery and one craft. Definitely a reading shortage this month
Another nine are in transit to the mobile library depot but didn't arrive in time to come out on the van so I will have to wait another four weeks to get them.
'Stone Spring' is for the 'Reading the Seasons' challenge and is Very historical - Mesolithic in fact - which makes it almost fantasy and not my normal reading at all. The small book on the left that I've missed is very old crime fiction by Cyril Hare
I'll be back to reading from my shelves again this month.
In April I brought home these.........
I read the five at the bottom but didn't get on with Miss Mole at all and soon gave up on it. I went and picked another Donna Leon off the shelves at a village library not too far away and also read some of my own books. Everything read is written about on the separate Books Read 2024 page. 12 books were read in April - proving what a cold and wet month it was.

12 books, that's good going. I don't do as much reading nowadays, and mainly in bed for an hour before I go to sleep. Trouble with that is, I quite often find myself reading the same paragraph over and over as I keep dropping off!
ReplyDeleteMy reading is just in the evenings before bedtime - not keen on readin in bed - find it the wrong angle
DeleteI often pick up at least two 'looking at' books when I visit the library, craft and cooking mainly. Nice stash there.
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
I have no idea why I reserved these two - the cookery book has too many ingredients!
DeleteI persevered with Miss Mole, it was OK but I was happy to get to the end. I hope you enjoy this month's library haul. As per usual, I have noted down a couple to add to my library requests, so thank you.
ReplyDeleteHappy to share book ideas. Miss Mole was a disappointing as I wanted to enjoy it
DeleteI've been reading several of the Martha Grimes' Richard Jury series. They are enjoyable but sometimes a tad long.
ReplyDeleteNext up I have Kristin Hannah's "The Women" which was loaned to me by a friend who just loved it. It's been on the best seller list in the newspaper for several weeks so I will see if I like it...
'The Women' should be with me next time the van is round I hope. Fingers crossed
DeleteHope you enjoy The Women…I did not like it. That’s the great thing about books. Different strokes for different folks.
DeleteYour header picture is lovely. Is it growing near you?
ReplyDeleteIn my back garden - a Ceanothus or Californian Lilac in other parts of the world
DeleteIt is good to have your own book collection to supplement the books the library provides. This month you'll need them. I like your new header too. Lilac is a favorite although I have none currently. Are your lilac flowers scented? A friend has created a bit of a garden hallway lined with lilac bushes and the fragrance is strong.
ReplyDeleteYou had a fabulous reading month! That's a BCL I haven't read. I'll have to check out your thoughts on this. Thanks for visiting! I'm glad you like Lorac too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great month of reading you had. I was surprised to realize this morning that I had actually read 6. Hopefully more this month, though I rather doubt it on my part.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Some good books there. I like Rachel Hore. It's not always easy finding her books here, but I try to pick them up when I visit. Hopefully, more will show up next month. Do you have a lot of books on your shelf? I'm determined to read more of the ones I have before borrowing or buying any new. I'm doing a lot better, but the piles still seem too much!
